This is ridiculous. I really, REALLY hope he's just trolling right now because if he hasn't learned anything else, he should know by now that even ADDITIONS can be polarizing events to a group's fanbase. It's taken Hwayoung over a year to become more or less accepted by fans as a member of the group, and even now there are plenty of fans that grumble about the fact that they just don't know what her purpose is.
You don't have to look any further than After School to see what a disaster their constant member additions and deletions have been on their status in the Korean idol industry. They started off as one of the most promising girl groups in 2009; they had everything. Five beautiful girls who could sing, dance, rap, and put out some of the best damn pop tunes I've ever heard. And while I still love them, their decline is evident, in no small part to the addition of several new members while giving Bekah the boot. Pledis had the same idea that CCM has now: they were reaching for a new audience for the group, so they poked and prodded until they have a group that is barely recognizable as After School. Now they aren't even as relevant as Orange Caramel, After School's own damn subunit. *Sigh*
And the sad thing is that I can already tell who they probably have their eyes on to leave the group...it'll be Boram and Qri first since they really haven't been given anything to do for the last two promotions, which will break my heart since I stan for Boram HARD. Jiyeon, Hyomin, and Soyeon should be safe, and Eunjung SHOULD, but they've been giving her less and less to do lately. It seems like they're starting to utilize Hwayoung more so she should be fine, and plus it would be an idiotic move on KKS's part to get rid of her less than EIGHTEEN MONTHS since she initially joined the group, but this is KKS we're talking about; he isn't known for his superior intellectual capabilities. But you know what the saddest thing is? We shouldn't HAVE to be speculating on who may get their pink slip and who's safe, at all. This ain't Survivor or Big Brother. This is a group of girls who have been through a lot together and should be able to continue on their journey as a rising group together without fear that their idiot CEO is going to oust any one of them. They are successful right now, and they will continue to become successful. Does KKS see SM trying to get rid of Hyoyeon, or YG making eyes at Dara? No. That's because they know their marquee girl groups are successful as-is, and to tamper with the formula would only be a detriment.
I pray this is nothing more than shenanigans on KKS's part because if it isn't, he may have just shot his golden goose dead. The only thing he needs to do is focus on giving existing members more lines and their time in the spotlight; not trying to find more viable girls to take their place. If he does insist on a radical member change, though, absolutely nothing good will come of it. The only person who needs to go is this ridiculous son of a xxxx. Better yet, T-ara needs to get the hell out of Dodge and SUE.

Whatever exactly being a group leader entails, I hope Soyeon can manage the pressure, as I imagine she's the only one with the backbone to 1) have raised issues with the boss in the first place, and 2) deal with the fallout. And hopefully the group as a whole will side with each other (and their own dignity) rather than knuckle under to the boss or bicker amongst themselves.
Just to rehash some stuff been said, yeah, the boss signed off on the group in the first place, and accepted conditions along the way without making such statements, so he deserves much blame for the problems he's talking about. And I guess he just doesn't understand how to foster talent (that is, artistic abilities) very well if he thinks creating internal competition for spots in the line-up will motivate the talent to work harder. They were signed and assigned to the group - let them rise and fall as the group they are. If the group gets complacent, usher in the rise of a different act. He's not running a sports team; these are people who want to sing and dance and need to rely on each other for support. If you want to compare it to a drama troupe (or whatever they call them), that is, a group of actors who actually do compete with each other for roles and such, I mean, it's in the name: "drama." You know, all the backbiting and stuff you hear about - but that stuff can translate into good acting energy. In the feel-good world of pop music, it just makes for angry performers without the proper emotional support to keep going. I mean, of all ironies he has the nerve to say that "stress becomes a bigger problem," and then says that part of the solution is to create more stress.
But again, it really looks like it's not about what he's saying it's about, but that he's trying to demonstrate authority after T-ara got up in his face about a few things - he may be on an ego trip, but I doubt even he thinks the new album (two albums?), the concert, the group in general will fare well with a shakeup such as he proposes. My guess is he's the sort who'd prefer to disband the group than to let them question his authority openly, and this is just him playing his hand. As for adding members, that's just grabbing at straws - if he's serious about it, it's just a man with no ideas, and not having whatever it takes to try to introduce a new act.
It's a real shame all this is going down just as T-ara was on a high - as far as I can tell, the past year has been great for them, professionally, and on a personal note, they were able to cap it off with a first vacation - and that all these positive feelings have to be muddied with the boss-man playing his mind games, but hopefully whatever happens the ladies will find themselves in a better work environment.

Since yesterday I cannot even think about anything else. I'm trying not to overreact, as we don't really know anything yet...but it's hard.
On a happier note, I loved to see how much love T-ara recieved today through twitter, youtube etc. (btw, that video is lovely. i watched it with tears in my eyes . The fans were really supportive. I hope they will stay like this no matter what happens from now on.
I was sad when Jiwon and Jiae left, but since it happened before their official debut, and it's been anyway a long time since it happened, i'm not going to complain. BUT changing members again, especially after these 7 girls have been through so much together...now, that's NOT okay. i'm not even going to talk about how mad I am at KKS for calling them lazy.
Now all we can do is wait... and see what happens next. Once again, I realized how much I love T-Ara. Every. single. member.

I can't believe KKS is really doing this!
T-ara right now has such great dynamics and interaction among each other. Adding or removing a member will ruin the chemistry. They have been together for 3 years, working hard side by side, improving their craft along the way, getting recognized as a top group, earning awards together and now all of this would be stepped aside....and for what? For his pride? For money? For his ambition to beat SNSD as the top group?
It's maddening to read that KKS regards T-ara as lazy and prideful. He's so freaking screwed up. We all know how much T-ara has worked so hard to achieve the success they are receiving right now... sacrificing even their health...
I seriously can't imagine an 8-9 member group T-ara... doing this just means KKS has no respect for the group and no respect for the 7 girls.
I hope the 7 girls won't just accept this decision sitting down. They deserve more. And I know it would be hard if T-ara breaks aways from CCM but I'm pretty sure a lot of Talent Agencies and Entertainment Companies are interested in them. I just don't want the 7 of them to be broken apart.

By all means, it's his own greed and ambitions to have a comfy retirement and beating SM - making a copycat version of SNSD isn't going to beat SNSD - not in the long shot anyway. There's plenty of other idol groups with 9 members or more and they sure as hell haven't been successful than SNSD in any way.
SNSD already debuted 2 years before T-ara did and they're backed by an agency that is among the Big Three - SM has the money, influence, connections and power to expand as far as it wants. CCM however, does not have that, at least in a comparable scale.
Considering agencies also rely heavily on the income their idols earn, this is a major factor. CCM hasn't expanded anywhere around the world except for Japan in a level comparable to any of the Big Three, plus a lot of the money needs to go to paying
the staff (managers, receptionists, composers, trainers etc.) and infrastructure maintenance and among other things. SM also
has more idol groups to rely on for income - ShiNee, SNSD, fx, Super Junior and the DBSK duo - CCM on the other hand, has
only T-ara and Davichi. Add in the fact that CCM also needs money to maintain its own broadcast channel, it provides even less money to expand overseas.
It's like a kid going up against a boxing champion in a fist-fight. CCM was never efficient in managing its artists anyway - and at current practice, never will. It will never be able to beat SM - not if a nutso like KKS is in charge. The man is an inept and incompetent manager and businessman. He is a failure.

Seriously? I really, don't understand this at all? Honestly, I think all the T-ara members should transfer to a different entertainment company, in which they can be happy. Sure, they may have become a little bit lazy, but it isn't their fault is it? KKS has been packing their schedule there is no time to rest anymore. Is it abnormal to become lazy due to the lack of sleep? And prideful? Don't you think calling our girl's conceited is a bit much? Does Kim Kwang Soo even think what people think of him? He's not just this big prouder with the big bucks, he's being viewed as a "Slave owner" with the way he treats T-ara... I honestly don't have much respect for him anymore.
I honestly, don't know what to do anymore. Why aim for 8-9 members? Does KKS really think that is unique? I feel as if they are just trying to make T-ara into an SNSD. I think T-ara was fine a 6 members... sure, Hwayoung was fine to add. But it's becoming too much now.
Finally, I'm just hoping KKS doesn't remove anymore or replace anyone from the 7ara we know. If it does happen, I don't know if I can fully support them as much as I do right now. I hope KKS reads fans opinions and give it more thought before they do anything that could affect T-ara greatly.

If another member is added that will seriously drive me to believe my theory that KKS is trying to make T-ara into SNSD. If he can do 7, then, 8, why not push it to 9, where the top girl group is at. Then sooner or later, he'll want to push into US Market and find a Teddy Riley-like guy to help him. Wake up, Kim Kwang Soo!
If another member is not added, then I hope that it's not breaking into sub-units like After School did with their Red/Blue/Orange Caramel. Yes, it was kind of interesting to see them submerge into different genres, but After School did it for so long without actually coming back together to make a comeback that it's like "Wtf happened to A.S.?"
Lastly, I hope this "member shift" is positive like a "solo debut", like Big Bang does with their members. They all separated for a while to do their own thing, but remained relevant and came back as Big Bang eventually. I could see a Soyeon x Eunjung collab like GD & Top did their thing.
Please Kim Kwang Soo, whatever you're thinking/ doing, don't mess up T-ara.

It's good to see people are starting to see that Kim Kwang Su is a rather despicable scumbag now.
Even my dad and his friends who are businessmen (or at least former businessmen) believe this is a very, VERY bad move - one of them even went as far as to say that KKS is an awfully inept, incompetent and even corrupt and power-abusing businessman - this is pretty evident with the fact that KKS hasn't bothered seriously promoting T-ara anywhere beyond Korea and Japan in a level comparable to SM, YG and JYP. CCM doesn't even have foreign branches overseas - most of the money T-ara makes is either going to CCM or to KKS himself. It's understandable CCM does need a portion of T-ara's income so it can pay its own employees (cleaners, receptionists, composers, managers and other staff), maintain equipment and structure and other sorts of logistics but KKS doesn't deserve anything after what he's done.
Replacing the members at say, 2009 or 2010 would have a much smaller impact since T-ara wasn't all-mighty popular at the time - but ever since Roly Poly kicked off, such a move in the present would be completely detrimental to T-ara AND CCM itself.
Added with the fact KKS hasn't even bothered giving T-ara even one decent vacation since debut - the current one, which is barely a week, is a complete half-assed attempt. 3 years of constant work and that's all they get - and Ji Yeon doesn't even get it due to her drama filming for DH2. KKs is a scumbag, to put it simply - even when KARA had their lawsuit against their agency DSP, KKS even attempted to interfere with the whole issue and personally said that the KARA members shouldn't even be in the entertainment agency. Even further in, SeeYa's Nam Gyuri also referred to KKS as a 'devil', only roughly a month before T-ara's debut in 2009.

She looked so young in this. Funny cause I have a dvd of Hello Miss (big fan of Lee Da Hae here) and saw it when it came out. When I became a T-ara fan and found out that Jiyeon had a cameo on this drama I looked and watched for the episode where she appeared. Above.
I even thought it was such a big coincidence that Jiyeon did a cameo on another Lee Da Hae drama Miss Ripley last year. Next time they should act as sisters cause they're both spunky and beautiful.

Thanks for posting! This is a very very nice read. It seems this interview was done in a light atmosphere and it was great to have a perspective of what their hopes are now, their future goals and their current condition.
"The power of Transformation" - this pretty much sums up T-ara's strength and this got them to be one of the top groups in Korea now.
Their company telling them they don't fit the cute and innocent song like other girl groups had me laughing. Well they fit all kinds of concept so I bet they could also pull off that one.
I also agree with Malvius. T-ara is now in the position to seriously contend with SNSD as the #1 Girl Group in Korea with all their nonstop release of hit songs. I hope they won't jump into the bandwagon of debuting in USA or Europe just yet.
There is a lot more in store for T-ara in the future with their positive attitude, charming personalities and talent. I'm so excited for them and their future activities whether a solo artist or as a group. Will be cheering and hoping the best for them as always.

^Yeah, that was me. You can see in the third video that Hyomin is holding a bag. She was really sweat. She accepted my gift and thanked me. After that, Soyeon has spoken to her but i don't know what she said. She was really surprise and moved. I think the girls didn't imagine that they had fans in France.
They were all really beautiful. their skins are so perfect, i'm jealous^^. Qri and Hwayoung hair in reality are very flashy.

I understand that she loves her work, and yes we do miss her but I think it's still a bit early to be pushing herself with these appearances.
On the other side, this was really really funny even without english subs. I kept on thinking how hard it is to carry a straight face when the situation and people around you is very funny. Hat's off to Eunjung, she's a really good actress. The "call from Taecyeon" is the funniest.
Saw the BTS as well, and she seems to enjoying herself anyway.

Thanks for sharing the vid! This was loads of fun as expected. They really are funny whenever they are guesting on shows like this. Shows they have good camaraderie.
They were funny doing their dance steps, guess the MC wants to see their original position in the dance routine even without the other members there. So unbalanced during Roly Poly without Eunjung, Jiyeon and Hwayoung on the other side.
I missed the gag-dol Hyomin so I was laughing when she was doing her version of the scene in the movie "Mother". She did that too in Invincible Youth.
MC Soyeon should have a talk show of her own. Hopefully in the future. Get the other good talkers. (Maybe Taeyeon or Sooyoung.) She's really good. And she's picking again on Boram. Tom & Jerry mode!

This is a beatiful interview.
But just as the Year of the Dragon begins, Eunjung's gotten herself into another injury. I really feel bad for her. I can imagine the pain. I hope she takes things easy and gets that 6-week rest for recovery. I'd rather see T-ara members performing without her knowing she's spending her days resting and waiting for her injury to heal.
I want a healthy Eunjung this Year of the Dragon...a healthy T-ara as well.
