    1) Yes, they're the sixth municipal elections. Aside from governors, it's also elections of various other figures in metropolitan councils and the like.
    .
    2) The guy who resigned, as CaptFantasy mentioned, was ROK Prime Minister Jung Hongwon. The position of PM is still left open, though a man named Ahn Daehee (former Supreme Court judge and lawyer) was nominated before he withdrew from it due to raised concerns of alleged corruption related to earned a bit too much during his tenure as a lawyer - at least that's what the opposition party has claimed.
President Park is still in position, and won't be going until four years (unless she's somehow impeached or resigns, though this is very unlikely).

Scatter_88mil got a reaction from Uncle fan in [14.05.26]
    @Uncle fan
It is necessary to mention when discussion becomes of what is the main player of T-ara's image downfall.
I don't disagree with you that the media has certain amount of influence, and there's plenty of examples of it playing a major role in breaking and making careers - I've mentioned myself that it is one of the two bigger players that effectively threw T-ara right at the trashcan for the sake of viewer ratings.
At that time however, what the media did during that scandal was openly report what CCM had stated in its disastrous PR press conferences more than anything else, considering KKS himself basically had reporters from every newspaper imaginable right in front of his eyes. Had the latter avoided that (or at least had someone with more tact doing it), the media wouldn't have been extremely active at the time. It doesn't help that the company's conferences at the time, by feeding the media, pretty much engaged in an extremely dirty mud-slinging campaign against Hwayoung and using T-ara as a shield to avoid public scrutiny (or rather, dampen it) against the company itself.
The media at the time was pretty much invited to play its part.
Using Newsen as a 'pro-T-ara' propaganda outlet didn't help things one bit either, as it was used to bash other idol groups at the time of T-ara promoting SL. Later on in 2013, the CCM itself goes to restrict the press in what it's allowed to write in respect to T-ara, and winded up antagonizing one outlet up to the point it actually resorted to open threats.
That being said, I rest my case on this.

Scatter_88mil got a reaction from Uncle fan in [14.05.26]
@Uncle_fan - I strongly beg to differ there.
    It's called being realistic.
Idol groups don't last forever, and this is an obvious fact that's been proven by history itself. There have been groups in the past in Korea whose fandoms were numerous times bigger and supportive than T-ara's and even SNSD's to a degree, but they disbanded and went their own ways. Some simply became a shadow of their former glory (i.e. Shinhwa, G.O.D and likely Buzz).
    1) If CCM actually learnt how to do proper PR, then the media wouldn't have been going on a reporting spree and the catastrophe could actually have been better contained and had a smaller impact on T-ara's image. Blaming it all on the media is just plain ignorance and only breaking the tip of the iceberg.
    2) Who's 'they'? You make it sound like the group endured it all out of their own sheer willpower without taking in the factor of management. In case you've forgotten or simply never knew, regardless if they wanted to give up or not, they were in absolutely no position to do anything out of their own choice. Kim Kwangsoo as early as 2011 had made it fairly clear that idols should never ever go up against their company regardless of reason, and is not afraid of making it extremely difficult for those who do so in a rather appalling manner - Nam Gyuri and Hwayoung are two major example.
Bluntly put, CCM has a gun put up right behind their heads 24/7. Seriously, there are way too many fans who literally either deny, fail to acknowledge or remain ignorant of this, while putting all the blame on the media and Korea's online community. It's rather distasteful whitewashing, at best and at worst, makes them no better than the other side, if not even more so by making everything so black-and-white.
T-ara doesn't have full power over what they want to decide in regards to their careers whether as a group or individual, as with many other idols.
    3) Lee Hyori didn't grow bigger because she didn't 'give up'. She was already fairly well-known as early as her days in FinK.L. though today, is nowhere near as popular as she was back in her primal years. Just like many other older celebrities.
    4) You're basically saying fans should be mindless drones that should accept and support everything the group does. If that's what you think fans should do, then it's no different to saying we should support CCM.
    5) A fan is someone who stays with their celebrity because they simply like said celebrity in whatever way he/she interprets it to be. The definition of fan, is very debatable. As far as T-ara is concerned, there are fans who like them for their looks, fans who like them for their personalities, fans who like them for their music etc. It's all split, and the word 'fan' is what keeps them together in one spot as a community. Not a group that basically says 'T-ARA STRONG!!!!!!' all the time.
    6) CCM obviously never really considered fans to be of much importance anyway. Back in 2012, there was quite a bit of worries/concerns that T-ara was being severely overworked, in poor health (in Boram's case, specifically) and the whole new member debate + KKS's public threats against the group. These concerns, were either flat-out ignored or met with a rather lackluster response, which pretty much says the company doesn't give a damn about our opinions so long as they can make a quick buck out of our wallets even if it means having to overwork the group to extremely unhealthy lengths (which they already have plenty of times).
If their agency can't even respect fans even if its valid concerns, then that makes supporting the group a little bit difficult, at least for me anyway.
    7) Whether you like it or not, the Hallyu Wave cannot sustain on being more reliant on K-pop. It doesn't help that the music industry in Korea is utterly corrupted to the core along with the filming industry, yet the K-government is trying to export it as some kind of brand of perfect lala-land lollipop.
Secondly, contrary to what you claim, K-pop has been largely the same for the last several years. Ever since 2010 (if not 2009, arguably), the music industry's been badly over-saturated with cookie cutter idol groups that are basically knock-off versions of the more successful groups and has become extremely reliant on idol groups for revenue, and this shows absolutely no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
If anything, at its current rate, K-pop has already shot itself in the foot in the long-term. There are no potential successors of the mega- groups like SNSD, 2NE1, Big Bang, DBSK etc. and the 'mid-tier' groups like After-School, SECRET, SISTAR etc. either don't have large enough fandoms, labels with abundant resources or staying power to replace them once they disband.

Scatter_88mil reacted to Vice_devil in [SPAZZ] Tell Good and Bad Things About T-ara
It's funny because I wanted to make a thread just like this before found it.
    Good:
    1. Ridiculously catchy songs, even their mistakes(Yayaya, BPBP) don't sound that bad when compared to some other groups.
    2. Good rappers in general, and good usage of them in many songs(not in all, sadly).
    3. They have a somewhat unique look. I'm not sure what it is but as far as looks go they tend to stand out to other groups, at least from my point of view.
    4. Fun on variety and shows(this honestly applies mostly to Soyeon).
    5. Interesting concepts, with a few exceptions.
    Bad:
    1. Bad performances. This is a problem that they've had since day 1 and it goes to all of them to a certain extent, but especially Jiyeon and Qri. Soyeon tends to be the best in my eyes. Eunjung, Hyomin and Hwayoung(in her later days) were/are one step behind. Boram and Ahreum were/are pretty ok. I still like their performances, but that;s mostly because of their 'charms' and because their songs are cool rather than any performing ability.
    2. Their autotuned voices in their korean songs sound too similar to each other and are too chipmunk like(except the rappers'). It's the reason why I like their japanese songs better in many cases, something that doesn't happen with any other groups.
    3. Bad line distribution, which is a problem most, if not all, idol groups have. Boram and Qri have suffered the most because of this, Hwayoung too in their earlier days. Sometimes Soyeon seems to get fewer lines than the main vocalist should get(though to be fair, the main vocalist gets the harder parts, not necessarily the most).
    4. Inefficient management(KKS/CCM). I'm sure there's no need to elaborate on this one, The 3 from above are likely because of this as well.
    5. They seem kind of fake to me. This mostly applies to the golden trio(Eunjung, Hyomin and Jiyeon) and, to a lesser extent, Soyeon. I have a hard time liking them for their 'personalities' because of this. They do seem nice, cute, and friendly with each other, but in the back of my head I always get the feeling that it's fake for the most part and that they're probably nasty off camera. In Soyeon's case I don't really care anymore because her humor makes me like her despite any other flaws she might have. I don't have a problem with any of the others, though sometimes I was uncomfortable with Hwayoung(as much as I like her), mostly because she didn't seem to fit in no matter how much she seemed to try.
    6. Some members get much more camera time than others, more than I'm personally comfortable with. Mostly goes to the golden trio, particulary Jiyeon.

Scatter_88mil got a reaction from Dandelina in [13.12.04] T-ara's Japanese fanclub suddenly shutting down.. Will they stop Japanese activities?
Lol, CCM's Japanese office will continue to manage them? Well, that sounds like a pretty bleak future there.
That being said, I really doubt that shutting down of the fanclub inevitably means their activities in Japan will indefinitely stop. Still, it wouldn't be surprising for activities in Japan to come to a lower tempo however. The Hallyu Wave is meeting its grinding halt there - and is probably also a concerning matter, as the biggest portion of overseas income for the K-entertainment industry happens to be from Japan.
Which would probably explain the sudden rush into China nowadays and CCM is merely following the trend.
Just because they're the third most popular Korean girl group in the country doesn't mean it's going to keep them afloat well in the long term. In fact, it's also hit KARA and SNSD as well, both who are much bigger than T-ara is by popularity.
    http://www.japantoday.com/category/entertainment/view/has-japans-k-pop-bubble-burst-weakening-yen-hits-major-korean-record-label-hard
    http://www.soompi.com/2012/09/06/k-pop-popularity-in-japan-declining/#.Up7wj8RdW30
That being said, the scandal from last year and declination of Kpop aren't likely the only factors. Furthermore, T-ara becoming the second largest group after SNSD - that was never going to happen. The moment KKS started mouthing off some of the most controversial things to the press regarding the group by calling them lazy, threatening them and putting unnecessary members and the massively increasing amount of work i.e. nonstop promotions since the second half of 2011 right up to the day of the scandal, it was pretty obvious that the group was heading to a celebrity-crash-and-burn scenario.
In fact, one may say it was inevitable.

Scatter_88mil reacted to Vice_devil in [14.03.10] T-ara Jiyeon-Hyomin to reveal distinct personalities in solo activities in April
This does not sit that well with me.
For starters none of the girls are solo material, not even Soyeon who is their best singer and arguably best performer. Also Ahreum already was planned(allegedly) to go solo, so it's kind of lame that she's put on hold(not that I'm surprised, she's not the only one in that company put on hold).

I could understand that they wanted someone more popular than Soyeon and Ahreum, but I really, really dislike that they're having Jiyeon debut. Sure. she's CCM's cash cow, their most well promoted idol, and thus, one of the most popular in the group, but she's pretty much T-ara's second worst singer and for all her looks, a poor performer(in a group not known for being particulary good at either).

If they wanted to promote their most popular for a solo album, they should have picked Eunjung instead of her. Eunjung is also one of their most popular(on par with Jiyeon and Hyomin even), and she's every bit Hyomin's equal, possibly even better, as a performer and singer. I suppose there's a reason for not using her, but I still don't like it.

I can sort of dig Hyomin having her own album. Excluding Soyeon she's tied with Eunjung as T-ara's best, as far as I'm concerned anyway, and she's also a decent rapper, so she's worth something at least(better choice than Jiyeon anyway). Though I kind of hate Brave Brothers so my enthusiasm isn't really through the roof.

    We should hang out.

As solo singers? My god, that is just stretching it far.
None of those two are even capable as branching out as solo singers. Not even Soyeon has the chops to branch out successfully as a solo. Their lives aren't exactly what you can consider 'solo' capability, especially compared to actual solo singers out there, or even idol vocalists like Taeyeon and Hyorin >__>.

And in any case, sorry if my arguments came out a bit excessive in tone. It's a habit that I just can't get rid of, among many other reasons..
In fact, I think this thread would be a good place for fans to 'vent out' their thoughts, emotions etc. about T-ara overall in whatever situation they're in >< But that's just me. I digress.
Warning, long ass detailed post (thank heavens my new job's shift hours and working environment is nowhere near as crap as the last one ><)
    Anyways...
    I must openly say this, because I don't want to beat the bush;
If in the case you see antis making very crude and illogical comments regarding T-ara, then the best option is to ignore it, pretend it wasn't there and then use whichever remedy you have to calm yourself down and move on.
@heraldc mentions that the fandom itself isn't really rainbows and cupcakes, and not surprisingly, the incident in 2012 and many others following that, arguably, have actually made a number of people becoming very sensitive (in a bad way) and reactionary towards anything that is even the most slightly critical of the group (case example - a certain person called Jacques in NetizenBuzz) - in fact, it makes them just as bad as the antis, if not even worse.
I'm pretty sure if T-ara saw some of their comments, they'd feel pretty gutted and guilty about to see their own fans resorting to stuff antis do. Bluntly put, it doesn't help them in any way, unless the members happen to be incredibly immature or enjoy seeing fan-vs-anti fights online, eating some popcorn and drinking soda in their van :3
Being a fan is hard stuff at times, no doubt about it.
When you see the idol (or heck, just about any celebrity you're a fan of) having a hard time in whichever way, you automatically feel stuffy about the whole thing. Completely normal, and the anxiety can be a huge headache at times. Though at times, some people let it get to their heads a bit too far and BAM! Fully psycho-defensive mode activated, and it makes a strong path towards losing rationality and neutrality, and eventually becoming no less different to an anti as far as mindset/behavior goes.
I'd note that maintaining neutrality is something a lot of K-pop fans actually seem to lack
That being said, if you feel down, blast yourself with the remedy you got if you feel down because of x idol having a hard time. This sort of anxiety emotion is no different to how you feel when your favorite sports team loses a major game or just about anything that's nerve-wrecking in general. Cure to that? Find a hobby to lax yourself, take a deep breath and keep steady with a cool head In my case, I just write fanfics, watch Team Fortress 2 videos or listen to some of my favorite T-ara songs on my computer or phone and play a couple rounds of AVA. Result? Feel much better.
See somethin' bad happen? Turn your head away from it quick as possible and blast up that planned remedy you got to knock it out of you. In the case of T-ara, if you fail to do that, then think for a second before you type down an angry fan response to someone whose comment is either stupid/unpleasant/out of reality/flat-out wrong - "What would T-ara think of me if they read this? What would they think of the fans who are doing the same thing I'm just about to do?"
All in all, I think people would learn a lot from this meme. Yes, a bit comedic, but I think it does say a lot in relation to this topic.

K-pop idols crazy working hours are a well established fact that every fans should already know, and it's not only happening to T-ara (Well, BAP for example). I agree, it is pretty much a norm. Of course now that they aren't in a promotional cycle, we can expect the workload to lessen...at least a bit.
On the other note, they do had free time. Like during the girls movie night out, which they even went shopping afterward (I think since Qri posted a pic of her new bag on IG), The reunion with Jiwon after attending Jinx movie premiere, also let's not forget about Qri recently taking the time off to celebrate her friend's birthday. CMIIW, but it looks like the girls get quite a decent amount of free time.

I think more like 100,000 people that attended the performances. Not 100,000 fans. That is a huge starking difference.
If we take into a look into the numbers here, the Diadems here alone number at nearly 40,000 and that's a combination of multiple countries around the world. The Korean fandom, even larger than that (and even then, was still large enough to keep Sexy Love from being a big whacking flop, as many people expected it would). I really doubt there could be 100,000 people even considered as fans of the group in Japan.
Hell, even SNSD's J-fanbase alone there is probably around the 100-150k range, and that's being the second most popular K-girl group in Japan.

I'm not saying they're liars - all I'm saying is I find their words of 'praising' KKS to be very, very distrustful and suspicious. And adding in CCM's notorious record of making contradictory statements and blatant lies, it doesn't hurt to be suspicious of the girls' words in front of the TV as well.
For a group that's been around for 4.5 years and enduring a toxic work environment for that long, it doesn't make much sense (or any for the matter) for them to sound so sympathetic to him. Imagine if you were in the same position, having only 2-3 hours of sleep on nearly a daily basis, grueling schedules that last all day long, starvation diets and the like for that long. It takes a dictator to keep dissent resulting from that to be suppressed under the radar.
Everything we enjoy from them in front of our screens, they go through a lot themselves - many people however, fail to see that.

A variety show where every single idol in Korea is put into a massive fenced-in forested area, are given paintball guns and duke it out until only one group remains, with the rest subdued. Wishful thinking, but I think it'd be a terrific blast.

Well I said then that this has a massive potential to blow up in their faces AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW IT DID. Seriously I am sick and tired of seeing KKS use T-ara as his personal meat shield to hide behind when xxxx hits the fan. Their association with Cris Brown aside that poor excuse of a pool party they performed at, this just proves how mutch of an idiot KKS is and how he is grasping for straws and running T-ara into the ground. Sad really and I can't help but feel bad for the girls.

Ancient history as far as I'm concerned. I stressed over T-ARA N4's US promotions enough in May and I'm past that now.
There are two people to blame for that debacle: Kim Kwang Soo for putting the cart ahead of the horse so to speak, and criminal scumbag degenerate Chris Brown who as expected, was an epic scumbag through out this whole mess.
Thankfully, Eunjung and the girls have good heads on their shoulders. They were possibly the most intelligent people in Las Vegas that week.
What a strange situation that was though where we had Dani of all people telling the press T-ARA was going to be working with, whoever...
I don't think Dani is a bad person or anything, but she was clearly over her head.
BTW why is Chris Brown hanging out with 15 year old girls anyway?

There were some good fan photos though.
