  1. On a related note, I have read on other boards that in addition to the depreciating Yen that makes Korean merchandise more expensive, another reason why K-pop is on the decline is that the Japanese are getting fed up with K-Pop acts that parachute in abruptly to hold concerts, sell albums and then immediately make a beeline out the country once the job's done, and may of these acts can't string a proper Japanese sentence by themselves even after years of performing in Japan.

It was assumed that the Japanese anticipated and expected their idol groups to form "lasting and reliable" holistic relationships with their fans. The Korean groups are becoming increasingly perceived as exploitative and insincere.

Anyone knows what's the real story behind this?

  2. The link to the rest of the photos should come with a safety warning; too many photos of Hyomin in that blue dress may cause severe nose bleed. My eyes popped at her body:leg length ratio. Gurl's sexy and she knows it.

I like that Jiyeon is wearing a Ramones Tee. We should send her one of their albums. It's always good to sample new stuff and widen one's horizons.

A part of of me really hoped that the choreography had at one point, Eunjung grabbing the lapels of her trenchcoat, pulling it apart, twirling said trenchcoat in the air before tossing* into the audience. She has a varaa-vra-voom body but she's not showing. I'm dirty-minded, that I admit.

Qri is gorgeous as always, really glad she's this single's center.

Soeyeon is well, Soeyeon. And I wouldn't want it anyway else.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, ISN'T BORAM REALLY REALLY CUTE? I MEAN, REALLY REALLY CUTE HERE? THAT SMILE, THOSE FINE FEATURES, THE WONDERFUL COSTUME. I LURRRRRVE! And she isn't my bias.

    End!

Edit; *Aforementioned Trenchcoat, not herself. Though I am very sure that if it was the latter, some members of the audience on the receiving end would be really really happy. Best take-home memento evah!

  3. Oooh. Speculation time!

I postulate that despite their best efforts, T-ara has not been as profitable in Japan (relatively-speaking) as CCM hoped they would be. Think about it, if the profits from Japan were sky high, they would milk that cash cow with every possible gimmick, year in year out. Taking a long hiatus In this idol-saturated market, could easily mean irrecoverable lost ground unless you're a really big household name.

So naturally, T-ara's venturing out to extend and deepen (if possible) their appeal in other markets. China with it's large, youthful population is quite a prize.

  4. Great gifs. Thanks!

I really like how three distinct personalities are revealed just by doing simple heart signs. Eunjung is a bit shy, perhaps even reserved; really cute when embarrassment overwhelms her and she has to look away from the camera. Jiyeon's a pro giving off the perfect cute, friendly, girl-next-door vibe. And our Hyomin-ah, always confident, always unique and always goofing around whenever the opportunity presents itself - think about it, how many sexy visuals in any girl group chooses screwball over mystery and sexiness all the time when possible? She is perhaps the most passionate one. Beating heart! Beating heart!

  5. Crayon is a breathe of fresh air in K-POP. Don't know hold long they can last but I really hope they stick around for a long time cuz I'm really enjoying the positive vibes they're radiating. Contrary to some posts above, their K-Con performance was greeted by loud fan chants as shown in episode 5 of Crayon Pop TV S2 subbed by Sheldon Kim.

I too would fancy a meeting between Crayon and T-ara. Our maknae Jiyeon would most probably get along well with them!

  6. Here's a thought about Areum's leaving.

Most Kpop artiste agencies that focus on the contemporary boy band/girl group business aren't known for being flexible and open-minded, not least with the talents under their employment. Everything from image in the group, how you talk, what you sing, how you carry yourself in public and what you look like, is strictly controlled by the agency. Artistic freewill and integrity are really, moot points in this context.

Plus, we know just how controlling CCM is. So when the official statement claimed that it was Areum's intention to leave T-ara and pursuit her own dreams in hip-hop and that the CCM abided by her decision and decided to support her, my eyebrows raised alittle. Areum is one of the youngest employees there and her lack of experience and exposure means that among them all, she should have the least leverage over what she can decide with her career direction and progression. Also, as many have pointed out, CCM had taken great efforts with resources to integrate her into T-ara with a juicy role at (what many perceived) the expense of the other girls - I really like her, but her vocals are no much for Soyeon and Eunjung and her rapping is best, on par with Eunjung and Hyomin.

The point is, CCM has invested heavily in Areum as part of T-ara. It is very unlikely that they would let all that investment go to naught because the artiste decided that she wants to do something else. God knows the pandemonium that would breakout in the world of K-pop if every idol group member is allowed to do what he or she wants to. Let's face it, Idols are expensive investments and agencies would want to exercise the full prerogatives of their contracts, and a little more, to get as much profit returns as possible.

As such, the more I think about it, the more suspicious the official statement gets. I'm not discounting Areum's own part in it, but I do believe the truth lies somewhere in between. Basically the scenario could be that after reviewing market sales and polling feedback from target demographics, CCM felt that Areum wasn't that good of a strategic investment and decided discontinue her participation in T-ara. It also, in this case, fortuitously coincided with Areum's original dream of becoming a hip-hop artiste.

  7. Crayon pop isn't on the list Q.Q

Man, Crayon Pop is awesome... I managed to randomly find their "Barbarbar" song and I'm addicted to it... ;D

Damn straight! BarBarbar is the catchiest kpop song right now.

Excuse me while I satisfy this sudden, irresistible urge to go look for sheep shearing clips on YT. Bar! Bar! Bar!
