T-ara’s Eunjung has been casted in a lead role on KBS 2TV’s daily drama I Love You From Today. Eunjung’s close friendship with producer Choi Jiyoung is one of the reasons for her special casting on the KBS 2TV’s daily drama. Eunjung will be taking the role of Min Chaewon, one of the main characters in the second half of the drama. Eunjung has finished the first round of filming on the 18th.
Eunjung’s character in the drama is a confident, free-willed, straightforward and cheerful gynaecologist. Although she has an unrequited love relationship with her university senior Kang Dojin (Park Jinwoo), she has a very opened mind about love. In the drama, Eunjung, along with Kang Dojin and Yoon Seunghye (Im Semi) will be involved in a very exciting and climatic love triangle.
Following her casting in KBS’s ‘Dream High’ in 2011 as Yoon Baekhee, Eunjung will be back on KBS’s screen after 4 years. Eunjung expressed her heartfelt feelings, “I’m very happy and motivated. Because the role that I’ll be taking in the drama’s second half will be a very key character, I’m even more motivated and I hope that I’ll perform well.”
Meanwhile, as a member o T-ara, Eunjung is also preparing for a group comeback. T-ara will be having their comeback on the first week of August, a break of almost a year since T-ara’s previous comeback.

[15.05.19] Eunjung to have special duet with Hyomin at Music Bank on May 22nd

T-ara member Eunjung, using stage name Elsie for her solo activities, will be appearing on KBS2’s Music Bank with a special performance.

Eunjung’s solo title track 'I’m Good', involving a sad choreography that is danced with a male partner had garnered attention. But it is revealed that Eunjung will be performing a duet stage with T-ara member Hyomin, showcasing a different version of the song for the special event on the upcoming Music Bank episode that is to air May 22nd, 6:30 PM (KST).

The news was confirmed with this picture of Eunjung and Hyomin rehearsing in the practice room, bringing about questions like: what kind of performance will they be adorning the stage with?

[15.05.16] Boram talks of the pressure of being a part a 3 Generation celebrity family

A 3-generations celebrity family. She has a celebrity family that consists of grandfather (Hwanghae), grandmother (Baek Sulhee), father (Jeon Young-Rok), mother (Lee Miyoung), and even her younger sister (Jeon Wooram). It’s T-ARA’s Jeon Boram who’s determined with her unique talents to become an even more famous singer than her father and an even more outstanding actress than her mother.
Jeon Boram said that she does feel lucky for having celebrity parents and grandparents; however, there’s a side to the story that not everyone knows. “Because my parents are celebrities, I feel even more careful. The burden I carry inside to show (the public) an even better image than my parents has been stressing me out. I’m not even in the position where I can tell others that I have worries. My worries might bring shame to my parents.”
“I tried to not become (a burden) on my parents’ name. When I first said I wanted to become a singer, my father worried a lot. Although he didn’t show it, I could tell he wanted to stop me when I first told him. However, he didn’t oppose me. He just looked at me silently,” said Jeon Boram. Whereas Boram’s mother, Lee Miyoung, fully supported her singer activities.
Jeon Boram confessed that she felt lots of pressure over being labelled a 2nd or 3rd generation celebrity. “Before being known to the public, the label ‘Someone’s daughter’ was following me everywhere. I had lots of stress since my parents are the ones to receive the backlash whenever I do anything wrong or cause trouble. However, after I began working hard in T-ARA, I started getting acknowledged as T-ara’s Boram rather than ‘Someone’s daughter’ which made me feel happy.”
When asked whether she ever took advantage of her celebrity parents’ statue, Jeon Boram replied “That’s completely not true. If I was riding on my celebrity parents’ coattails, then I wouldn’t have failed all of those auditions. I would’ve just debuted easily and promoted easily. When I was cast as a T-ARA member, it was due to the CEO’s love-call to me after he watched a video of me dancing to BoA.” The whole family are celebrities so it’s not easy for them to gather. Boram shared that when the family gathers, they’d talk about all sort of things and the place will be filled with bright laughers. She said that she’s happy to be promoting in T-ARA. “I don’t have a friendly personality, but I enjoy it and feel happy when I share conversations with my family. When we have activities, we monitor and give advices to each other. We’re all celebrities so we have sharp eyes,” she said while laughing.

[14.06.16] Hyomin to release “Nice Body” solo album on July 2nd.. D-16

Previously we had no updates on when Hyomin would be revealing her “Nice Body” solo album and music video, but Core Contents Media has finally revealed the date we’ve all been waiting for: July 2nd!
On July 2nd, Hyomin will release for digital download her “Nice Body” solo album as well as the music video for her first ever solo single. It wasn’t specified if “Nice Body” will be a mini-album format like Jiyeon’s solo album.
In addition to the release date, Core Contents Media unveiled one new teaser image which depicts Hyomin in a navy and white striped skin-tight outfit that makes her body – with a tiny waist and slender legs – look like a classic Coca Cola bottle.
Previously, we learned that the up-and-coming rapper Loco would be featured on the title track which is produced by Brave Brothers.

Before her June 13th Music Bank performance, Jiyeon met with reporters at Edaily and discussed her solo and gave support to her unnie Hyomin who is also having a solo debut soon.
Jiyeon said, "I listened to Hyomin's song and watched her video choreography at the same time. As soon as I saw it, I realized it was the exact opposite style of mine. You can really see it in the teaser when it comes out (laughs). But the song and dance are really good and there's a lot of aspects to it that will make the performances fun."
Jiyeon continued to say, "The boss decided the songs and styles for each of us. For me, a Double Sidekick song, and a Brave Brothers song for Hyomin. We didn't change anything from the original plan." She also said, "Actually, Hyomin's song is better than my song. My song has a dreamy and calm atmosphere, while Hyomin's song is not like that and has a song that makes an atmosphere fun."
Finally, Jiyeon concluded by saying, "Hyomin looks really good in her rehearsals right now. Her stage costumes, hair, and make-up is all very nice. Her song will be released after I finish my promotions."
Jiyeon also revealed her hopes that T-ara can comeback in Korea within the year.

sacrod reacted to aoikage in [DISC] How T-ara are getting the love back: A look at sales numbers
    Hey, Diadems, yo!
I'm sure you all are jamming to T-ara's latest release 'Do You Know Me' Monday to Sunday nowadays. Because, what should I do, it's just too catchy!
It's only a couple of months since T-ara came back with their signature upbeat ballad sad love song 'No. 9'. And it is only a little over one year since the scandal that made T-ara break down in tears.
Now that their tears have turned into pearls, has the heat turned into love for the girls as well?
By looking at things at a glance, T-ara seem to have been 'accepted' back to the place where they belong, entertainment industry. However, looking at certain facts a little deeper might give us a hint at how well T-ara are doing in regaining their position in the industry at the moment.
And sales figures are what would be helpful in this exercise.
I have compiled the Digital Aggregates (DAs) points (aggregates from Digital Song Downloads, Mobile/Ringtone Downloads, Video Streamings, and Background Music Downloads) for each title track for the first 4 weeks (F4W) since each release, and also the album sales numbers since release to October 2013. All data is derived from Gaon chart.
*I wasn't able to obtain the weekly DAs for Sexy Love. Gaon archive doesn't wanna go back that far and I lost the weekly data I had back then.
*I only compiled the data for releases after (and including) Day By Day because that was pretty much the period where the scandal first broke out, and that's what's going to matter in the remaining time of T-ara's career.

Day By Day - At US$413,061 worth of title track sales for the F4W since its release, T-ara were still the Top Tier group back then, among boy groups and especially girl groups. Album sales (since release thru Oct 2013) are not amazing, knowing T-ara's power to sell past 50,000 units. I'm not sure how much the scandal contributed to the low sales.
Sexy Love - Either the public didn't like Sexy Love that much (which I don't think was the case because Sexy Love follows T-ara's previously catchy songs formula) or the scandal hurt the sales badly enough. Revenues from the song's F4W sales were down by almost 40% compared to those of Day By Day. Worth mentioning is the fact that Mirage still sold 832 units in 2013, while Day By Day saw no sales at all! I was thinking of a 'sold out album' scenario, but after checking on Yesasia I found out it was Mirage that was no longer available.
Jeon Weon Diary - Just when people thought T-ara would be laying low, CCM released sub-unit N4 with their not-so-haters-friendly-song. As expected but quite surprisingly, at least to me, was that fact that they managed to sell the title song for roughly 60% of Sexy Love's sales figure in the F4W period. JWD album sales are very poor for T-ara's standard, but lo and behold, it's among the highest selling album in 2013! It even beats (newly) digital monster like SISTAR and SISTAR19, also 4Minute. It's also only ~9,000 units less than IU's Modern Time album sales that charted most of its songs.
If anything, I would expect Jeon Weon Diary (both song and album) to flop due to the harsh nature of the song to some listeners. But no, I guess the public were more excited about T-ara N4 punching haters in the face then they were about T-ara's normal comeback.
No. 9 - Thus, this very typical T-ara sounding song didn't do so well during its F4W. As if it's the trend with T-ara's title songs after the scandal, No. 9 sales were down 40% (again) from their latest Jeon Weon Diary sales, although the album manages to sell 24,882 units thus far, catching up with JWD album sales.
I Know The Feeling - Despite the low digital sales of this song, it's a nice feat to see the second title tract made the chart.
Some of you might ask, "Why looking at the sales numbers for the first 4 weeks?"
According to some Kpop music and sales aficionado out there, the F4W time frame is the period where a song normally shows its attention grabbing power, turning listeners into buyers. An explosive F4W record would suggest the song will become a chart topper, although it's no guarantee that the song will remain on the chart for a long period of time. Case in point is Roly Poly whose F4W sales weren't too spectacular but it had the longevity power to keep charting until the year end.
Also, some would use F4W sales numbers as an indication of how well received the song is by the vast audience beyond the group's exclusive fans.
The graph below shows how T-ara's title songs digital sales and albums sales fluctuate since scandal.
The steep drop is very obvious in the period between the release of Day By Day and Mirage. T-ara's recent Again album manages to bring more (estimated) revenues because it's priced higher than JWD album, although selling ~4,000 units less.
*I used Yesasia List Price for the album price.
The trend for T-ara's title tracks F4W sales numbers is nothing fun to look at. Nuff said.

Still from the graph above, albums sales seem to bring more revenues compared to title track digital sales. And if what Kpop fans out there say is any true that those who purchase albums are loyal fans who really follow the group, it's sad yet still good to see how many (or little) 'loyal fans' remain to support T-ara.
As normally the case with repackage albums that sell less than the original releases, I'm doubtful Again 1977 would surpass 20,000 mark. But I'm truly wishing I'll be proven wrong.

Although it's not an amazing number for T-ara's class, it's still great to see how Again album outsells earlier releases of notable groups as pictured in the table above.
Here is how T-ara's title tracks rank annually based on Gaon sales data.

Well, let's hope things turn out for the better for our beloved T-ara. As much as we want them around for as long as possible, or however much they want to keep entertaining us, it's all about the money money money that CCM care about.
The more we support them, the more revenues they make, and that means a happy KKS, and that means he'll most likely keep T-ara around a bit longer, and that means happy fans.
So, Diadems, keep supporting T-ara... day by day, again... and again 1977... alright, this pun is getting out of place.

*Please let me know if I missed any point.

    EDIT 1
    Summary and Notes:
    1. Digital sales. Ever since Day By Day, the trend for title tracks' Digital Aggregates (online sales) seems to be that every new release would have a 40% lower sales than the previous release.
    2. Album sales. Ever since Day By Day, the units sold have have seen a declining trend as well. However, due to the nature of much higher sale prices for the albums, the estimated revenues saw relatively stable figures every release although all releases after Day By Day only sold roughly 50% as much. Note: Again sales numbers are only a couple of months old, we might see little additions in the future.
    3. Gaon's pricing and calculation systems for Digital Aggregates have always been changing. And most recently the rumor is that Gaon changed their systems again in January 2013 (thanks to Z for pointing that out). I still used the previously known value of $0.003/Digital Aggregate point. With this in mind, digital sales revenues that are converted from DAs are only to serve as a rough estimate. However, the DAs themselves could still serve as a good measure of the vast audience acceptance of a particular song.

[13.10.23] T-ara to recreate Sand Pebbles' song "What Do I Do" for December comeback

    Retro queens T-ara will return!

T-ara will do their reinterpretation of Sand Pebbles song "What Do I Do" that first became popular through college music festivals in 1977.

T-ara will sample Sand Pebbles song "What Do I Do" to recreate and update it with composer Shinsadong Tiger for a brand new 2013 version. The arrangement will be trendy for young adults but will also bring back memories for the older population. It will be a pop dance song with a traditional melody.

T-ara created a retro craze with "Roly-Poly" and want to recreate that craze again in 2013 with "What Do I Do". They want to be able to bring back happy memories of the past once again.

T-ara's jacket image for "2013 What Do I Do" was released today and it features a cassette tape.

T-ara will release "What Do I Do" on December 2nd.

T-ara, “That incident changed the childish us.” A Tearful First Interview. When friends or lovers get into an argument, how should you resolve it? T-ara is standing before the public with this thought in mind. When people are angry because of our actions, and when an apology cannot resolve their anger, what should we do? T-ara has chosen to silently work hard and to wait until that anger melts. Although it is common for artists to become emotional and cry during interviews, T-ara’s tears fell carefully even when they were falling naturally. T-ara, who can’t even escape vicious criticism when they prepare snacks for their fans, ended up saying tearfully, “We will work hard.” After that “incident”, this is their first interview with the media. The questions and answers that required tissue everywhere until the end are now revealed without any changes. Q: A comeback in a long time, how do you feel? Hyomin: It’s been a year since a comeback as the 6 of us. We disappointed some people before, but that won’t happen this time, we will work hard. We made our comeback nervously. Soyeon: More so than rankings, we are thankful that there are people who are waiting for our music. Q: It seems like you had a lot of worries. Hyomin: To be honest, we’ve never had a “blank period.” We were always running everywhere with no rest. Although it wasn't intentional this time, we had a blank period and during this time, we really lost a lot of confidence and had a lot of thoughts. We had a lot of worries too. Eunjung: Everyone’s attitude towards us are better than we thought it would be, we are very thankful. Just like when we first debut, our thoughts are just that we must do well. To be honest, whether people would like our music, we had a lot of worries like this. Also, many singers are making their comeback in this period, and would they like our colour? We also had a lot of worries like this. Q: A lot of other groups are making their comebacks as well. Soyeon: The timing for releasing an album is very important, no? We thought we picked an appropriate time. It seems like this was a time appropriate for all other singers too, so we all made our comeback around the same time (laughs). We are thankful just to be discussed along with these other artists. We are really happy just to be mentioned along with SHINEE and IU etc. When we see news of that, we think “Wah, there’s actually us.” Q: Now that you’ve made your comeback, do you feel more relaxed? Eunjung: People’s hearts are always like that, we should be able to feel more relaxed now, but we still worry a lot about how we can maintain this. Should we keep doing the same thing next week? Should we change our dance? What about our clothes? Etc. Hyomin: Because there are new comebacks every week, we are very nervous. Recently, there have been so many comebacks that rookies are hardly able to participate in music broadcasts. So we understand how valuable it is to be able to perform on music programmes. Eunjung: In the past we would think that this was a given, but now we know how to be thankful. In the past, even if our managers don’t mention it, we would clear out Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for our schedules, because we have to perform on music shows. We used to think that way, but now we would ask our managers, “Do we have any schedules?” Q: T-ara’s schedules were very full in the past. Soyeon: We had at least 5 schedules in one day, we were very busy. We thought that they were only schedules and didn’t think much about it. We only had thoughts about wanting to look nice etc. But after experiencing this blank period, we understood that those are not just merely schedules, but is something [precious] that finds its way to us. Now, we think that every single schedule is a precious thing to us. Hyomin: Although it is better to not have experienced bad things, during that time, we only looked at the things in front of us and kept running forward following our CEO’s instructions. But now we look around us and behind us. It is something that can’t be expressed with words, but there are things we have gained. The time we spend with our fans and the way we treat our fans also changed a lot. Q: Your first performance was at the Gyeongju Dream Concert. Eunjung: It rained that day. Singing while it was raining, it felt very extraordinary and profound. Soyeon: We felt different compared to the comebacks we had before. In the past, we would know that there were a lot of people waiting for us and we had confidence. But this comeback wasn’t like that. We didn’t have confidence, and the cheers and applause for us are also different from before, but we can only work hard. So we are even more thankful for the people who have given us applause all along. Q: Experiencing something bad together, it seems like the friendship and love between members have changed as well. Soyeon: The atmosphere between us is like family. To be honest, there were times when we were so busy that we couldn’t take care of each other but were just there together. But this time, we had a lot of time to talk and reminisce with each other. And since we carry the same scars, the understanding and care we have for each other seem to have increased as well. We became closer. Boram: We think that teamwork requires every single person. Q: The leader keeps changing. Eunjung: Even though there is a leader, generally we still make decisions together, so there is not a big difference. But things like conveying information, giving notice, gathering opinions, those are things that the leader would do. Q: Even so, the atmosphere within the team would be different because of the leader right? Soyeon: Boram unnie created a very relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Eunjung is really good at managing work, and she can organise things well even when things are very messy. When Hyomin was leader, we became more fashionable. Hyomin: As a leader, the most difficult thing was to answer our CEO’s phone calls. Eunjung: He would call at 6a.m. in the morning and ask “Are you awake?”, “Have you seen your schedule yet?” Things like that (laughs). Q: Because of what happened last year, it seems like you are more thankful to be on stage and to the fans. Eunjung: About things we used to think were a given in the past, we now think “We are really thankful” “Ah, this is so good”. Not just to fans, but to the general public who watch our performance, give us applause, and sing along to our songs. In the past, we just feel like it is just a comeback, but now we are very thankful for these things. Soyeon: We did earn things [from this incident]. This happened when we were receiving a lot of love. If that hadn’t happened, we would still be kids who didn't understand a lot of things. We would think that popularity is a given. To experience something like that at that time, it seems like we found something that we had lost. The people who worked with us, those who visited us, our fans – in the past we really seemed to not understand their preciousness and didn't know to be thankful. But after that incident, we had a lot of thoughts and became more mature and responsible. Q: The comments online, have you seen them? Hyomin: Although we didn’t read them in detail, we browsed through them. In the past we would look for negative things, but now we would look for positive things. There are more and more support messages, and there are more and more of positive messages as well. We feel happier as well. We will read them to each other as well with the thought that “Wow, there are even these [good] messages for us.” Boram: There are also negative criticisms that can be constructive. Paying attention to those comments, with the mindset that “We did that before, we should correct that” is not bad. Although we cried a lot before when we saw very malicious comments, now we look for comments that can be constructive. Seeing malicious comments that would give us harm, now, instead of getting hurt, we seem to learn from them more. Q: How is each member doing recently? Jiyeon: It’s been a long time since T-ara’s last comeback, I want to show the best side as T-ara. Hyomin: I filmed for a Japan move “JINX!!!” in the beginning of this year. It was during one of our most difficult times, and I’m thankful that I was given this opportunity. It was a very memorable filming. Eunjung: I filmed for MBC’s “Welcome”. Living with students from Turkey, it was the first time for me to film a variety like this. Because I had to promote Korean culture and language, I did a lot of studying myself as well. To be honest, I had wondered whether any variety programmes would ask me to participate. I’m really very thankful that they asked me to appear. Boram: Because I had been a bit unhealthy I lost a lot of weight, but now I’ve become a lot healthier. Qri: T-ara had a lot of overseas schedules. I prepared very hard for T-aras comeback. Soyeon: I appeared in “Haeundae Lover” last year, but because of what happened, the drama seemed to have suffered because of me, I feel very sorry about that.
Q: Did your boyfriend Oh Jonghyuk give you a lot of support? Soyeon: Of course he gave me a lot of support, he told me good job, and gave me a lot of trust. Q: What is the secret to date for so long? Soyeon: Although we started dating, we both have a very careful personality. Because of his military service and because I am an idol, we were both very careful. We began dating with a lot of trust in each other. It seemed as if waiting was very easy because the person I like went to the army. He must have had a lot of difficulties there but he still took care of me when I faced difficulties. Because we gained more trust in each other in those 2 years, so our relationship became better as well. Q: You must have been worried when Oh Jonghyuk extended his military service. Soyeon: Although he told me about it, I was still worried as his girlfriend. But I couldn’t express it because he is very determined. I could not express anything in particular. I just worried in my heart, but I watched him return successfully and thought that was very cool. Q: Is there anyone else who wants to date? Boram: It would be great if someone could like me, but there isn’t (laughs). I really want to date. I think out of all of us I’m the one who wants to date the most. Q: Did the members know about Soyeon and Oh Jonghyuk dating? Eunjung: We knew from the very beginning. Q: T-ara has tried cat and Native American concepts etc, are there anymore concepts you want to try? Soyeon: Our juniors are all so cute, pretty, and fresh. Is there this loveable concept that only girl groups can express? We want to try that too (laughs). Eunjung: Mr CEO, please consider this (laughs). Hyomin: It seems like our CEO is really amazing. Like a genius, he always seem to think of things that other people haven’t thought about. Eunjung: During “Sexy Love” we were really shocked. At the time, wasn’t it very difficult for us to perform and have a natural expression on stage? But our CEO suggested that we do robot dance – our expressions were neither smiling nor crying (laughs). Soyeon: It seems like we don’t create the trend, but we just change it (laughs). Retro and shuffle dance were something that other artists had already done, or we would only do something after something became a trend. We would ask “is it already too late”, but it always ends up becoming popular. Q: This time, “I know the feeling” is also a trendy phrase. Eunjung: We were worried whether we would interfere with Gag Concert. Q: It seems like there are a lot of misunderstandings about your CEO in the public too. Soyeon: Our CEO saw a lot of the messages and was very hurt. But if there are good messages, he would be very happy. Eunjung: He used to be like a tractor, but his body and heart have become a lot weaker. He listened to a lot of our opinions as well. Soyeon: It feels like he may be someone who cried the most in front of singers. He asked before “Am I difficult to get along with?” Actually we have seen the normal and private side of our CEO. We've seen him when he cried in front of those comments and when he is troubled because of us. He is someone more common and normal than people think. Q: Lastly, is there anything you want to say to fans? Qri: It seems like we have only received from our fans but have never given them anything. We are really thankful to our fans. Hyomin: You’re the member who doesn’t cry even when we achieve number 1 [about Qri who teared up]. Not just to fans, but it seems like there is so much to say to the general public. Eunjung: To be honest, for this comeback, we wondered if we would be able to receive love. But there are still people who are curious and love T-ara’s music. For that we are very thankful. Regardless of what they say, they only say it because of the appearance we present. We will accept it all and work hard. Hyomin: More so than asking for forgiveness or apologising, it seems like it is more important to work hard and present a side of us that will make others say “They’re really working hard.” In the future, we want to express that sort of feeling no matter what we do. Eunjung: When friends or lovers are mad at each other because of something the other person did, and even when repeated apologies cannot resolve the issue, the most important thing is to keep working hard until the other person’s anger melts away. It seems like we have to do the same thing as artists. Original article: http://news.nate.com/view/20131015n03773 Translation via Chinese subs by TCN: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/2651831149?see_lz=1
