[SPAZZ] Day by Day

I just watched a favorite video of mine on youtube. I'll try to include the link:

See if it works for you. Let's discuss this.

Okay first off on "Don't Leave" Soyeon is SO in her element. This is her power and it cannot be denied. Amazing.

Next: Why do so many rappers have to start with " Oh, Yeah, Ah"? Just curious.

Why is it that Eun Jung was the only one in black during the first song? I grant that she was FLAMING HOT even is she is my bias, but I never have known why.

On Day by Day Hwayoung is so strong as a rapper. This is my favorite thing that she ever did with T ara.

Ahreum comes off super strong later in the song. Such a great voice.

Rapping in T ara: Okay Hwayoung and Ahreum are not bad as far as female rappers go and there are some good ones out there. But let's go back to TTL when Eun Jung set the bar on female rappers! She was like a machine gun with the rapid fire and clear delivery and staying on beat without adding or subtracing. That was what convinced me that rapping in Korean should be an Olympic sport! She was amazing. Okay, yes she is my bias, but come on!

Opinions? Oh and Qri, Boram, Hyomin and Jiyeon were all beautiful and fabulous as always.

I am not gonna lie but I honestly liked Eunjung and Hyomins rap better in Day by Day

Hwayoung was good but I prefer Eunjung and Hyomin

No offense

Because they are so talented they made the transition flawlessly and the song lost none of its effectiveness. I agree but I still think this was the best example of Hwayoung's rapping with T ara. I'm sure she has grown even more since then as an artist.

Not to be of any offense, but calling them rappers is stretching it.

Generally speaking, K-pop rappers - particularly those in idol groups - aren't really considered actual rappers. The only ones who are exempt from it would be Zico from Block B, Bang Yongguk from BAP and Miryo from Brown Eyed Girls, and that's because they actually know how to rap, know how to write their own stuff and have had real experience prior to actually debuting.

Not even G-Dragon and TOP are considered so. In fact, you could even say that aside from the 3 mentioned above, all the 'rappers' of K-pop idol groups are more along the lines of fast-rhythmic talkers than rappers.

As far as female rappers go, you got Tasha/Yoon Mirae, Gilme, E.via, Choi Sam and the list goes on. If you think Eunjung, Areum, Hwayoung etc rap like machine guns, then the others rap like this :3

This is what is called and considered female K-rapping;

Yes I actually agree with you. Her rapping has got stronger by day by day and it probably is more stronger today. :)

That is soo true..

Personally I don't think Eunjung really set the bar in TTL. I mean it was good for k-pop rapping and it was enjoyable to hear, but I don't think it's something that Hwayoung and even Ahreum couldn't have done themselves if given the chance.

Maybe I have too much confidence in Hwayoung's superiority at rapping but eh, I'm pretty sure a lot of our preferences regarding this are based more on how much we like them and their voices more than actual skill anyway.

Hey! Hwayoung wrote some lyrics at some point. Kinda. Still something for someone having little actual training, I think? Regardless of that I still find T-ara rappers better than most other k-pop rappers, at least female ones, part of why I like them. But yeah comparing them to experienced rappers is kind of like comparing k-pop singers to actual singers/vocalists, not much of a comparison.

I'm curious though, you mentioned Zico, Miryo and that BAP guy(which I agree with, minus the BAP guy because I don't know him), but what do you think about Taewoon(Zico's bro) and those definetly not trying too hard dudes from BTS?

EDIT: Ok I'm not gonna lie, some of the stuff you linked is awesome, particulary the first three. Looks like I'll become a E.via fan!

Adding on at that, they didn't sound particularly *that* good on live either. Folks like MC Sniper can actually put up a really solid performance on live without breaking a sweat; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPY2BtrjKdE

The question would be just how good those lyrics are, since that's pretty much a universal thing required for K-rappers (to my knowledge anyway). There's a lot of rich material out there among K-rappers that's some really great work that their idol counterparts can only dream of ever catching up to (MC Sniper is considered one of them, this being one example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tW3pbebp3A).

Personally, I always ask myself why K-pop groups even have rappers at all XD. Never mind that weird requirement of deliberately making their voice deep to sound more legitimate.

As far as BTS goes, had to look up on a live perf to judge lol. I can't say it's really anything impressive, though their lead rapper definitely is much better than say, anyone who raps in Super Junior, DBSK's Yunho, or pretty much the bulk of boy groups out there. For Taewoon, he sounded a bit off in some of his group's lives, though then again, it's not like everything's gonna fit for him. That being said, just like BTS's rapper, hell lot better than any of the K-pop rappers out there, aside from his brother XD.

Now that I think about it, it's kinda wasteful that he's in a group that isn't gonna be going anywhere, not to mention being in an agency of terrible reputation and competence.

I ask myself the same question everyday. It was fun listening to Hyomin and Eunjung rap back in the day but i would've enjoyed the song 10 times more if there was no rap on it. And I don't even want to rant about how unnecessary adding Hwayoung & Areum was.
