  1. Don't get your panties in a bunch, dude. The point is to sell whatever the artist releases, be it single or album, so that nullifies your claim that singles sales aren't important. If they weren't then they wouldn't be so insanely expensive. Plus single sales can be a good barometer of how well an album will sell on release, so yeah, single sales are kind of important, otherwise they wouldn't release three or four singles before releasing the album. And please don't lecture me on how album and single sales work in Japan, I'm pretty sure I've got a handle on it. And no, 20,000 is not that great for this kind of release.

There's one word that comes out when I read this : "stupid". But let's remain polite. Lovey Dovey single and the album Jewelry Box are joint releases. It doesn't compare with the previous singles which were the actual release. Here, the single of Lovey Dovey is just a preview of the album, or a plus for collectors of T-ara. Seriously people, how hard is that to understand ?

  2. It's at number 27 on the daily chart, so it took a pretty big tumble from yesterday, but a bunch of new singles just came out and T-ara's never been very good at maintaining longevity on the singles chart in Japan. At this rate it'll be amazing if it can sell 40k.

The point isn't to sell singles there, but to sell albums. Those sales are just a bonus, wait for the album release. Plus, T-ara has a solid longevity in Japan. Bo Peep stayed relevant in the charts for about 5 months. It sold above 130k while its 1st week was 50k.

19k is good? I don't know much about J-Pop sales numbers but it seems like a flop to me debuting at No. 9, T-ara's worst yet. And they did so much promo for this. More than for any one of their other j-singles.

Wikipedia has their first week sales as MUCH higher. Bo Peep almost did 50k, Roly Poly 41k, Yayaya 31k. 19k is a big flop.

I don't blame T-ara this time for their promotion because they did LOTS. I blame the single being a cheap remake and not an original japanese song, which they should have used to lead their album with, like SNSD did with Mr. Taxi.

For a "prophet" you're a bit outdated. Like someone answered you, the album is coming out in a few days. Kara barely did better last November when they released a single a month before the album. Those sales are just a bonus, it's the album sales that matter. Besides, the last Korean artist who did the same thing (U-Kiss and 2ne1) barely sold 3k of their singles, while the album sold about 20k. So yeah, 19k is really good for this kind of release. And don't forget that the album contains original Japanese tracks as well.

  3. 19k ??? That's huge ! Really didn't expect that much since the album is coming out in a few days. The last time Korean artist did so (U-Kiss and 2ne1) they only sold about 3k of their single while their album did about 20k. Well, those are flop artists in Japan but still, 19k is an amazing feature. Now there's hope the album will break the 100k margin within its first week.

  4. Aww, they are doing so much Japanese promo yet Lovey-Dovey is flopping so badly

They're not flopping. The album is being released now, Lovey Dovey single was just an appetizer. Who's going to splash its cash on a single when a week later we can get the full album for a few extra yen ? If Lovey Dovey single sold 10k that would already be an amazing feature, Kara didn't much better the last time they did so and the album went on to sell hundred of thousands. Just learn your history before bashing.

  5. Well, whether if it can be called a vacation or not, I can't be sure. They're going to film a music video...that's a heap load of work still. I'm wondering how is it that all 7 members got to go though....but hey, Europe? Now that's something I can't afford in a lifetime. Lucky them for sure.

But why the bloody hell is KKS going? He sure as hell likely didn't accompany T-ara whenever they went to Japan, at least to my knowledge. It's like saying Obama should accompany Delta Force on every mission it's sent to, whether it be domestic or overseas.

Talk about some crazy micromanagement there -_-

If anything, the scumbag is more productive by roleplaying dictators like Hitler or Stalin.

Regarding this new girl group set for May, let's well hope that they won't be put into the dustbin like Co-Ed did.

KKS isn't T-ara's CEO in Japan. It's the CEO from J-Rock that is responsible of them there. But T-ara wasn't in Japan, KKS did accompany the girls on their trip, remember T-ara Dot Com ? That episode where he's giving losts of money to the members to do some shopping.

In any case, it's natural for a father to travel with his daughters. This will be a nice family trip. If only Davichi could tag along.

  6. Why do I keep repeating everybody that KKS loves T-ara! Now they're taking a Euro trip together !

Are there still some people who think KKS is evil and hates T-ara now ?

By the way : THIS IS A REAL FAMILY COMPANY. Taking days off to spend time together is the real deal, not just saying random stuff on TV to pretend to have any bonds with company mates when really there isn't any (yes Cube, yes JYP, I'm talking about you)

  7. From the looks of it, it's great but... everything Hyomin has been personally involved before had it shares of disappointment : 5dolls outfits, her role in her Summer movie, which apparently she rewrote to make it better (can't imagine how bad it was before then....), T-ara's MV's editing where a lot of mistakes can be seen.... and now that.... don't know what to think of it. Maybe she should just focus on singing lessons for a while.

WOW..Rare oportunity for Hyomin. Congrats Hyomin!

Is the girl group also belongs to CCM?

No they don't. They're KKS group, but they were moved to GM CM along with Co-ed.

  8. kKS is the KING!

Everybody knows the 3rd year is the most determining one in Kpop. Remember how 2PM talked about it last Summer, remember how Big Bang took a 2 years hiatus from Korea after 2008 and how they nearly disbanded last year. Look at how bored seems some of SNSD members now ; T-ara is the cream of Kpop now, it's certain some members might to do the efforts anymore since they're assured to score big with anything they release for the next 2 years (if they keep on releasing material).

I guess this is necessary, and I hope it will help T-ara to stay an active group for years and years instead of backing off from activities and disband in the coming years.

I think, Ji Yeon is the most unstable member there, along with Qri and Boram.

We'll see what happens but my initial dream of finally having a nearly original member, Soomi, finally joining the one and only group she belongs to, is coming to reality !

  9. T-ara sold about 42K on its first week on oricon, plus Tower Record and DVD sales, with each single costing about 20$, I guess it's about 750,000$ USD. But it's not sales, but royalties T-ara is donating, meaning the money they would have earned from the sales after the distributor, producers, etc. paid themselves. I guess their donation for the 1st week of sales is about 100,000$ USD then.

It's so great of them to do so.

  10. No, a break is when the girls aren't expected to promote. At ALL. They are currently promoting Roly-Poly in Japan, which does not qualify as a break for me. No, it may not be as break-neck a promotional cycle as Japan, but consider the fact that they've had three promotional cycles in Korea alone in the span of less than a year. Then factor in that during the fall and winter they were also promoting in Japan. Roly-Poly may be all they're doing right now but that still doesn't mean they aren't extremely tired from everything they've been doing over the past year. And even when that's finished I don't consider having to record, rehearsing for future performances and concerts, and promoting their CFs a break or vacation. It's common knowledge amongst the fandom that T-ara hasn't had a proper break since debut. Even when they aren't in front of the cameras 24/7 they are still working. The fans you're telling to get a grip are only concerned for their health, no need to snipe at them.

"No, a break is when the girls aren't expected to promote. "

This isn't called a break then, it's called "disbandment". The only artist that ends a promotion span with no set plans are 4minute and U-Kiss. Look at where they are now....

The T-ara members may need a break, they do not need to do nothing. They're used to having a lot of activities every day. Of course, having a short holiday would be good, but they already had a few days in Paris, plus Japan is a sort of holidays if you consider the little perfs they're doing over there.

T-ara has a special rhythm and it works that way. If you give a whole month of holidays to the girls I'm a 150% sure none of them will agree to it. Being an idol, singing, recording, rehearsing, attending event and variety shows isn't just their work, it's their life. It's not like they need a break to focus on their own passion, they're living their passion. All they need is to restore their health, and that is done by sleeping correctly while living an easy going life with maybe a couple of activities a week, and that's what they're doing right now and until mid-May when they'll be recording and learning choreos. But then again, T-ara learns choreo in a blink, that's why they're always granted special perfs on certain year end shows and such.

Plus; don't forget that they will only have to record a couple of songs for the Japanese album.

  11. For heaven's sake, they're already busy as hell working on their new album scheduled for July while also promoting in Japan and now this? WTF has Kim Kwang Su been smoking in his head for the past 2 months now? Or has he simply lost his marbles just to live a comfy life after retiring?

The Japanese album can wait until LATER this year - they need a rest ASAP after that new album in July comes out. NO lengthy promotion performances again like Roly Poly last year. That's as far as it goes.

Seeing DBSK, SuJu's Hangeng and KARA complain about their agencies and getting in a lawsuit was bad enough - at this rate, T-ara might as well be next. As Big Bang's G-Dragon said - when idols are at their third year since debut, they get a tendency to rebel.

Better give T-ara that well-deserved break CCM, or otherwise YOU will next in looking like complete trashdogs of scum in all of Asia. As a fan, CCM (and especially CEO Kim Kwang Su) has so far done nothing but made themselves look no better than a gang of pimps in recent times, regardless of what astounding news they have to tell about T-ara to the public.

Man seriously ? All this isn't until June. The girls are currently on break. It's a 3 months vacation for Christ's sake!!! Isn't it long enough? I wish all those fans would stop making arse of themselves by crying for T-ara's break where they're already resting and have 3 months to relax while doing little activities.

wait, soo..wheres the well deserve break?? ccm promised...so now that Roly Poly is such a success kks is like, "aw the break is secondary, its all bout the money" At this rate T-ara WILL collapse, how would they give the fans a awesome concert if they are overworked? i hope CCM and KKS knows exactly what they're doing...over promoting can be like a double edge sword, they increasingly get more popular but their performance level might drop due to fatigue :(

Anyway although i'm not really digging a Jap album so fast (mainly cause they're expensives) haha but definitely supporting them no doubt. Wished i could attend they first concert too~ but hais..japan is too far oh well

Hello ! The break is NOW and for the next 3 months for Christ sake!!!

  13. Gaon has just released its latest Weekly charts featuring both Big Bang's Blue and Miss A's Touch. With those latest data, a considerable drop in Digital Aggregate (DA) can be observed. 8 months ago, for the same amount of downloads, songs will usually achieve a DA worth 20 millions more.

Nevertheless, the amount of downloads have a remained steady. From collecting them, it is easy to compare and estimate a song success, even when released at the different times.

T-ara's Roly Poly achieved great success last year. Thanks to its impressive longevity, the song managed to rank 1st on the Gaon Yearly charts (which sums up every kind of digital charts from every Korean charts), scoring in the meantime, the highest amount of download to date, before IU's You & I recently broke this record. For those who had questioned T-ara's ability to maintain its streak, a collective data on T-ara latest released songs, Cry Cry, We Were in Love (with Davichi) and Lovey Dovey proves that Roly Poly will not be the only song from T-ara to make history on Korean music charts.

As we are looking into T-ara's latest hits, a few things have to be taken in account :

    - All 4 songs are still charting

    - Cry Cry has charted for 16 weeks so far, We Were In Love for 10 and Lovey Dovey for 8, therefore, a sub-total is established on the 5th, 8th, 10th and 16th week.

    - As the highest number of downloads is achieved the first days then gradually decreases, the number of days a song charted on its first week is affecting the numbers for all following weeks.

    - Roly Poly was released during a high peak period were downloads were very important

    - Both We Were In Love and Lovey Dovey were released during a low peak period.

    - Roly Poly has been promoted on music shows for 10 weeks

    - Cry Cry has been promoted on music shows for 8 weeks

    - Lovey Dovey has been promoted on music shows for 6 weeks

    - We Were In Love has only had 5 performances made on Inkigayo solely

  14. omg wad on earth does the album title even mean? lol. okay nevermind the way the tracks were listed didn't make sense. i guess we'll have to...wait and see.

haha why not put the title 'Wait and See' as Track no. 14? :P

The translation is wrong there. It should be "avant-garde", which you should now what it means. It's a kind of Art which is ahead of its time, often shocking and usually sells badly : everything T-ara isn't. That's why I doubt this rumour is any true.
