  1. I personally think this would not affect the entire choreography much since the pelvis dance is just one of the sexy highlights. I'm guessing Jiyeon would probably do body waves or a short ballet dance of some sort (which explains the ballet concept of her teaser pictures) to replace the pelvis dance. All in all, I doubt the modified parts of the choreography would affect her mysterious and classy sexy image anyway. And like you said, I think it's a strategy to get non-fans to watch the actual MV to find out the original choreography. Can't wait for her next live perfomance!

Does anyone know her next live perf? From what I saw on some FB fan sites, she will appear on music shows consecutively for a few days now(?)

  2. Official Video at MNet:

    Cr: MNet @youtube

Wow.. I always thought Jiyeon was the most consistent member in T-ara for live performances but that really blew me away. The choreography was great, the atmosphere was awesome, the fan chants perfectly highlighted the chorus, the stage lighting dazzling but most of all Jiyeon really stepped it up. Her face & dancing is so intense is like she is playing a dramatic character and she is doing this all while singing it live!

PS: Anyone else thinks with her outfit & 'never ever' dance, Jiyeon looks like a mix between Tomb Raider's Lara Croft & Batgirl?

I'm sure Jiyeon surprised everyone with her live singing. This goes to show how stable and reliable her voice is despite not being the most captivating and unique. She made it up with her dancing, facial expressions and stable vocals!

The coat lifting parts were like bat girl, not sure about Lara Croft but I really like her cropped tank top. Shows off her toned mid riff and body-hugging clothes are always flattering for slim and slender girls. Not to mention her adequately short pants. I guess the tight tank top and pants are really very Lara Croft-ish!

  3. Just wondering, how did her clothes suddenly change color? Or how did that effect work? sorry if its an ignorant question lol

I have a feeling it's the effect of the clothes, can't be the mirror frame. My guess is her clothes will reflect light maybe(?) That probably explains why her wrist scarf was still black. Nevertheless, I think the effect was really good - it really looked like the mirror changed the clothes' colour. But I think the emphasis should be on her singing and dancing - REALLY phenomenal. Even though she did not do the falsetto part, her singing throughout the song was not breathless or lack of energy at all. Her dancing was just perfect; the fruit of relentless practices. I think her efforts are paid off, the crowd was cheering for her throughout the performance and they even screamed 'Jiyeon' at the end. These might be their fans but I hear no boo-ing or whatsoever.

  4. I personally think that Jiyeon's voice sounds much more natural and amazing in Marionette. If the sound editor or music director was able to allow Jiyeon to sing at that kind of energy, i think it would enhance the feel of the song. But then again I think some might argue that the restrained, controlled voice is actually more fitting for a depressing song. Well I guess it's two types of approach that could have been adopted. At least we all know how strong Jiyeon's vocals have become with her Marionette, even though her voice isn't exactly the best in T-ara and most captivating. One fact that we can't deny is that Jiyeon's vocals are stable and strong to a certain extent, especially through live performances and in MR-removed live perfomances. Cheers! 지연 짱, 티아라 짱! 화이팅!

  5. Read this interpretation:

Moving on to the MV, I think depressing themes have already become her bread and butter. She is really able to bring out emotions with her phenomenal facial expressions. This adds on to the mysterious sexiness that the whole song and dance are trying to enunciate. The whole feel of the MV and song are really well complemented with the stop-motion of the home scenes where Jiyeon wakes up to her normal routine. Once again I’m not gonna lie: this song and MV aren’t the best out there, BUT, with the combination of the whole theme and feel to it, it is arguably a top tier standard, in terms of art (music and dance are considered arts anyway). Something interesting to note is that the only thing that remains in ‘colour’ are Jiyeon’s nails and the piece of garment or scarf that she had been weaving the entire MV.

The MV tells us the story of this lady that Jiyeon is portraying but does not give us a proper resolution. There can be two interpretations: (1, the most popular interpretation) Jiyeon is haunted by her past relationship and she still pines for the man she loves; as a result, she loses her sanity and ends up in an asylum (the white, faceless figure is supposedly her doctor while the man in black with the umbrella is her past lover). And (2, what I think the MV is really about) Jiyeon is haunted by her past relationship and is unable to let him go. She lost her sanity ages ago as can be seen in the MV where she always wakes up to her routine and continues sewing this garment (she is thinking that they’re still together, JUST LIKE PAINKILLER). There are instances where she realises that she’s insane, and all that she lives in is just a facade (she looks into the mirror and the whole house - her world - decolourises). In the last scene, it is showing her finally realising the reality, the asylum room might just be a metaphor.

  6. I dont like seeing Jiyeon cry. :(

Context is important here but this video reminds me of GaIn's teaser for Truth or Dare earlier this year except it's celebs being asked to say things about her.

It seems like this is a sort of social experiment where people say what's on their mind in an effort to show how ridiculous they've been.

ok i feel the need to cut some people................ anyways KARA's Gyuri is known for saying that haters will only hate you behind your back but if they see you in real life they will come up to you and ask for your autograph. Jiyeon be strong!!

Initially I was sad at the video and translations, but as others have said, they're doing this for one reason or another. If this can help show a different side of T-ara which others haven't seen, then that's good.

    It's Slay-yeon/Slay-ara we're talking about here.

Although I mentioned this might be a tactic that Mnet employed to get viewers to actually pay attention to the show and see how Jiyeon and T-ara have changed, I still think it is hurting for them. I mean, I wouldn't want to put the girls through this pain once again, especially when Jiyeon seems to be the main target most of time because of her naturally 'cold look'. But we must have faith in Jiyeon's strength in fending off these criticisms and bashing, and emerge only as a stronger girl. <3

  7. By the way, does anyone know why yesasia is selling jiyeon's solo debut album at 17.99usd while other sites like synnara and dvdheaven are selling at 10.xx usd? Seems to be a big difference

  8. Correct me if I'm wrong because I've never seen any of these Mnet "rude shows" before. But I think what Mnet is trying to do is to show the viewers the rude comments towards Jiyeon both offline and online, but after that, showing that these people have changed their perspectives towards her. I just have a feeling this is what they're trying to do.

I mean, it doesn't make any sense that her parent company would want to bash their own idol in the midst of all the promotions and stuff right? It just doesn't add up. The only logical thing I can think of, is to attract the attention of the viewers with this 'teaser' then show how strong Jiyeon is now. What more to attract than to dig some 'dirty past scandal' of an idol that has been the target of offline and online bashing. You cannot deny that titillation always sells.

And of course, it just shows that Jiyeon is really to face this problem that has been really the problem to some of their journeys to making their comebacks etc a success. Afterall, Mnet has full control of what is shown anyway, and the last thing they would do is shoot themselves in the foot. Keeping fingers crossed for our dear girl and her sisters supporting her off screen.

  9. Well, I would definitely blame CCM for making such arrangements. I really do hope they could rethink some stuffs, especially when Hyomin's solo debut would come right after. I'm worried that Hyomin's concept would be worse, but I have faith in Hyomin's ability to judge for herself how far should she go. Yes, it might not be as sexy and even slutty as other girl groups but I believe T-ara should maintain their image of 'not-needing-to-bare-so-much-skin-but-yet-be-popular-and-loved'.

On the bright side, Jiyeon did mention in Jingdot's message board that be rest assured that the concept pictures are just 'pictures', and not to worry about her. I'm guessing that the actual performance would be more of her showing her newly-toned abs and maybe sexy dance moves, that's all. Let's just hope that if Jiyeon's solo debut were to be successful, her subsequent albums would not need her to bare so much skin again. And of course, her sisters' solo debuts to be successful too. Don't let our faith waver from decisions made by CCM, T-ara 화이팅!

  10. Korean's English isn't the best in the world; Asian English has always been a laughing stock anyway, with the exception of a handful that study abroad or make the effort to truly understand the language anyway.

Yeah the english subtitles are a bit silly. But then again, I think we've all gotten used to the english in T-ARA's songs.

I like her color lenses and black hair. Not as much as the Number 9/Do you know me hair.

Agree with every part of this.

The color lenses made Dino look a bit intimidating, reminds me of the blonde villainess of Day by Day and Sexy Love.

Yes! That's probably why she looks different, the colour lenses. I've always liked her with the 'bad girl' concept because we all know how innocent and adorable she is in actual fact. :D

  11. I'm from Singapore and I've been to a TOM N TOM'S Cafe before here. The crowd is decent on weekends and it seems like quite a place for people to hang out too. I'm would say there's a chance that Jiyeon's solo debut coffee mat would be here too! I would go down to check it out if it's not an hour's long train ride and a fair distance walk... Nevertheless, happy to see that her 'actual' pictures are actually not nearly as sexually suggestive as her teaser pictures! Having faith that her actual performance and stuff would be the kind of sexy that she's able to pull off and suitable for her image!

  12. As expected, Jiyeon really impressed the Osen staff. This is exciting news!

While some people are concerned, I'm encouraged that they used the terms "daebak" and "truly exceptional" to describe Jiyeon's performance.

    It's a glowing review! T-ARA doesn't always get those.

I'm keeping my hopes high that you're right about it. Nevertheless, gonna have faith in our Jiyeon that she does not over do it! We must believe that she knows herself better than anyone else: the amount of sexiness that suits her image and look. Jiyeon hwaiting! <3

  13. It would be really interesting if Jiyeon can pull off Park Jiyoon's Coming Age of Ceremony in a slow, sexy-classy but not slutty ballad style. As we all know, Jiyeon is better at singing ballads than any other genres though she's of course not even nearly as good as many vocalists out there. But then again, if she manages to pull this off really well, sing better than all her previous parts and mini-solos, she will really blow people's minds off! <3

  14. Some say jiyeon looked skinnier, but for me she look okayish

I think the 5kg or 11lbs that she lost came from her arms and thighs most probably. Those areas are the only possible areas where she can lose fats... Then again, I don't think her thighs are that flabby too... Recent pictures tell us that she's really, really slim now, probably, wait, definitely as slim as Hyomin now. Not saying that she was fat or flabby in the past, but she's definitely more fleshy if you compare her present body with those in T-ara's previous come backs and even her debut period. Her concept photos so far are decent in the sense that she don't look slutty or overly exposed, which is definitely a good thing! :)<3

Can't wait to see her MV and her life performances. Just hope that she won't look like a skeleton (Park Jiyoon in her own song). Keeping fingers crossed! ^_^
