Spotlight: Interview with Diadem’s Project Manager Bankudonku
Diadem presents our monthly Spotlight! Differing from the Roundtables, our Spotlight focuses exclusively on a single QUEEN’S as we take the time to get to know them and their story. Is there someone you’d like to see be in Spotlight? Stick with us till the end to know more details!
In Diadem’s first Spotlight, we’ll be getting to know better one of Diadem’s own, our Project Manager Bankudonku or better known to friends as Wilson Tsai, a Mechanical Engineer from Los Angeles.
Q: How did you find out about T-ara?
I heard TTL back when but never knew who it was by. Then I saw the episode of Running Man with Jiyeon.
Q: When did you realize you have become a QUEEN’s?
When I joined Diadem Subs.
Q: What is one word you would use to describe T-ara?
Resilient.
Q: Has T-ara changed your life in any way, or in some aspects? How?
T-ara has become a big part of my life as Diadem was the first time I’ve ever been involved with a K-pop fandom. I spend a fair amount of time working on projects and any Admin work the staff needs help with. Because of T-ara, I’ve gone to Korea and will be going again later this month.
Q: Who is your favorite member and why?
My favorite member is Eunjung. In the time that I’ve known T-ara I’ve actually changed biases several times. When I first liked T-ara it was Jiyeon, then Hyomin after watching Invincible Youth. However, after watching Eunjung, I switched my bias to her and stuck with it ever since.
Q: What is your favorite T-ara M/V and why?
My favorite T-ara MV is Number 9 because aside from loving the song, I was a big fan of the production, concept, and visuals for the MV. I also enjoyed that they didn’t switch camera views every second or use strobe lights to cause seizures. Finally, Qri eating rose petals… nuff said.
Q: What is your favorite T-ara song and why?
It’s a bit of a tie for favorite T-ara songs. My favorite songs are I’m Okay and Hide & Seek because I really liked the vocals on each.
Q: What is your favorite T-ara concept and is there a concept you’d like to see in the future?
I can’t really pen a favorite, but the Day by Day concept photos blew me away. As for concepts in the future, I can’t say what exactly but I’m sure I’ll enjoy whatever they come up with!
Q: What is your most memorable T-ara moment?
My most memorable T-ara moment was the charity bazaar they held in December. Not only were they supporting a good cause by donating their clothes, they also had international fans participate through Soompi Shop and the live Ustream cast. I hope they continue to reach out to international Queen’s for future events!

Q: Have you ever been to a T-ara event? Tell us about it!
I’ve actually been to several T-ara events! When I was in Korea, I went to Music Core to catch one of their live performances. It was fun meeting other Queen’s and getting psyched up by learning the fan chants. Another event is when T-ara N4 visited the US. While I didn’t get to interact with the girls as much as I would have liked, I was proud of the supports we did to provide the girls with gifts, food, and cake. I think it was an awesome opportunity for US-Queen’s to see the girls in person and I really do hope they come back soon!
Q: How did you find out about Diadem? What made you join and become a part of our family?
Before I joined Diadem I was (and still kind of am) a broadcaster on Justin.tv. My channel was dedicated to casting Korean music, drama, and variety shows. I scoured the internet for subbed video releases I could cast which led me to Diadem. I eventually wanted to get involved with the subbing process which caused me to apply to Diadem Subs as an Editor.
Q: Outside of being a QUEEN’S, what are your interests?
I’m a pretty typical guy. As an engineer, I’ve got a strong affinity for geeky things like video games, cars, tech, etc. I love to travel and immerse myself in other cultures especially through their food.
Q: How did you become a Project Manager for Diadem? Tell us about your responsibilities as a Project Manager. (from @07_Cheetah)
I became Project Manager after getting to know the core staff and that a lot of them were in the Los Angeles area. Having a job with flexible hours, I figured I could dedicate hours on the side to take on Diadem’s projects.
My responsibilities as Project Manager are to create project threads on the forums, organize donations, purchase and ship birthday gifts to Korea, and conduct all correspondence for any of the above.
I’ve enjoyed being Project Manager so far; it lets me contribute to the fandom which is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve met a lot of great people at Diadem, in Korea, and across the world because of the different projects we’ve done. Its also given me a chance to meet T-ara in person and contribute directly to them. All of the projects we do are for the girls. We are looking to do more ambitious projects in the future and to get the community more involved with T-ara. I hope we can continue to have everyone’s support as we progress along with our projects!
Q: What got you into Korean culture, K-Pop, or Drama/Movies? How long have you been a fan of K-Pop? (from @TaemiTamz)
Having grown up in Koreatown, a lot of my friends in school were Korean. The first KPOP song I listened to was Turbo’s White Love on a cassette. I’ve always liked KPOP since then.
Q: If T-ara were Team Fortress, which member would play which character? (from @CornOppa)
Jiyeon – Heavy, Hyomin – Sniper, Eunjung – Soldier, Boram – Spy, Soyeon – Medic , Qri – Demoman
