  1. @PandaRK don't get me wrong, I love T-ara. It just left a bitter taste in my mouth of how the hate bandwagon went full steam (singled out akp since they posted a lot of articles about it).

And I said it's a matter of preference if people want to check out those articles/comments or not.

  2. I've seen 2 other sites plus one (T-ara) blog with similar views. I actually thought the same even without understanding the lyrics, and confirmed when the subs came out. Coincidental or not, T-ara has been subjected to such brutal attacks; it's actually good they send out a message they won't bow down to such tactics (and doing it in style). Reminds me of the poem Invictus.

PS: my advise is avoid allk**p. I've abhorred that site since the scandal. But if you can take what their articles/comments say, go ahead. But if you have a hard time taking their nonsense, do yourself a favor and avoid it. Less stress is good for one's health.

  3. Sorry to say, I find this topic not that good a discussion point (disturbing/insulting).

If our point of reference is the (distant) scandal as well as how haters still view T-ara, then it seems to suggest that K-Queen's (or however you want them to be termed as) are either non-existent or a meek minority.

I don't want to elaborate on T-ara K-fans support, but if they are non-existent, then I don't think T-ara would even try to do a comeback (Sexy Love, Jeon-won Diary).

Likewise, we could also make a poll out of Queen's from individual countries and weigh each in turn, as a lot of 'international' lapped up and joined in the bashing/hating.

Honestly, Queen's are divided on any number of topics relating to T-ara (Hwayoung's departure/termination, N4 sub-unit, ETC), a poll like this is a repeat of what happened to T-ara, ostracizing people. And to give K-fans credit, some of the best photos available came from them (e.g. Dots).

PS: I know a few Queen's/Diadem from SK. And with that, my answer is a resounding YES!!

  4. It could break the Saiyans' scouter meter, but as the highest, 10 it is. I'd give it an 8, or even 9, just for doing something different (sub-unit + new concept). The "upgrade" is due to the audacity of getting in the face of any naysayers :D

I thought there was something "hidden" with the MVs, which was reinforced by seeing the translated lyrics. Whether or not this POV is true, who cares. I personally thought (and wanted) T-ara to do something (okay, ala gangnam style) that just show they don't care with any of the negativity thrown at them. They finally did. In style.

The news didn't overhype about this (possibly) being bigger than GS, but not because of the music or choreo or even the concept. It's the message and the attitude. Likely will overshadow any international event (ala Olympics). :P

PS: would this be a sign T-ara would be returning to Twitter/SNS again?

PS 2: can't wait to see people doing covers of this, probably with slogans showing "wae wae wae", "why You hating", "mind your OWN business".

  5. I had the feeling before I saw the subtitles, like the "why you hating" being sung in a sort of whisper/subliminal manner, or the over-the-top manner in the drama mv.

Let's say it was intentional, whether you like the sub-unit, song, mv, or not, I'd still think T-ara/N4 should be given the credits of doing something like this. Ant to think , they were supposed to try and win back some people on their side with this promotion!

It's predictable how detractors (i.e. haters, critics) will say (or already saying) about N4/Jeon Won Diary, but despite that, let us not tire in supporting T-ara, in whatever incarnation they appear in. But just like JWD, let's not go on the defensive. Relax and just have fun!

    Party people!!!

  6. it's different from what they used to do, like the absence of the drama (no crying, no dying) in the drama mv. I'd always thought the girls would do something so ridiculously un-serious (simply show haters they don't give a... they don't care). They finally did.

Some people will like it, some people won't (just to be expected as you can't, and will not, please everybody).

My hats to them for doing this.

  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the sub-units from other groups composed of the more famous members too? If that's the "trend", subunit of EunJiMin is no surprise at all. Actually, it's more surprising they only did a subunit now (in hindsight, with what happened last year, I guess if there was indeed any plans for subunit/s, it would be delayed).

I agree with some of the points raised, like how a subunit is no different from solo projects and other activities. Perhaps it's the idea of slowly shedding off the older members. In the near future, it may not be the case. Both Boram and Qri pulls off the 'the much younger than I look' image, plus either or both are popular in Japan. Then we have Soyeon, who besides being the group's main vocalist, also has excellent variety skills (i.e. T-ara's spokesperson).

To an extent, it's quite understandable how some may react to the subunit (recall last year). But it's less likely something drastic like last year will happen (but it's CCM we're dealing with, so anything is possible). And for what's it worth, I suggest that you show more concrete support to your individual biases (sorry, all I can think of is the Banisuta CDs and support projects). As long as they remain relevant, your biases will be around, or less chances of being axed. And who knows, the unnies may not be idle after all (hopefully).

As much as there are those who jump on the hype of every new release/promotions, we also have those who unleash so much negativity. Either way, stop the incessant and unpleasant extremes. It's fine to be supportive and anticipating; there is nothing wrong with a dose of skepticism and a bit of being critical, but to take it an all new level of insanity, it's simply frustrating. It's terrible enough we have all those haters and bashers or whatever they are, it's just worse with the 'fandom' (still don't like the term) in a perpetual state of civil war.

Personally, I'm not into the whole hiphop thing (it seems currently the trend in SK now), but I'm waiting to see what N4 has to offer. And speaking of N4, more than their usual share of fatigue and stress, it would be better if people (us) extending sympathy and support to those 4, who are unmistakably used to test the waters.

Pray that N4 will be successful, and in turn, that success be carried over to the entire group that is T-ara.

  8. "Bad publicity is better than no publicity" -- seems to be the possible reason why Hwa's name was included. Personally, mentioning her just asking for unwanted attention. But with how the cases with Soyeon (chat, WGM) and Hyomin (feeding "enemies") were blown out of proportion (failed, but still not stopping haters), I would 'assume' CCM would continue to pointedly making any references to Hwayoung.

But, wherever you stand, it would be best just sit and wait.

PS: as I mentioned in the older thread for the sub unit, I really hope the 3 unnies won't be sidelined. It would be nice EunJiMin (frequent absentees from group perfs) and Areum (minimal experience) take the stage more, while Boram, Qri, Soyeon be back to solo projects. Role reversal of sorts.

  9. Short term sales is nice, but it would be better to have consistency and longevity. If I'm not mistaken, RP became the #1 song due to consistent sales. Staying power is a stronger indication of success (for me anyway) than topping the charts in the short term. And for T-ara, it might be better to go this route (less attention, less criticism).

Ii is possible Banisuta may reach decent sales, since its possible a couple of people would attempt to get all the jackets. But I don't have a barometer to compare what constitutes what is good and bad sales [in the Japanese market], except perhaps compare Banisuta with T-ara's previous releases.

  10. Hmm, the unnies will focus more on solo activities? A reversal of the previous trend (of EunJiMin having more individual activities). Let's see how things work out.

The change is nice to allow the unnies more exposure (it's been awhile since either Boram or Qri had any such endevours, and we know Soyeon's first venture was cut short). Assuming it's actual projects and not sidelined.

Keep an open mind and see.

  11. Can i pay in Singapore dollars? Or is there other website to buy..

To re-confirm what Z said, yes, online stores will use the latest exchange rates to convert the currency they use with that of your own (assuming its different), like YesAsia uses USD or CDJapan uses JPY.

If you shop online, you should receive an email confirmation of your payment as well as the exchange rate used at the time of the purchase.

  12. Cheap ploy or not, there are people who'd buy it, especially with tags of "collector" and "limited edition" (Lucky Star reference here).

As for CCM, whether its experiencing financial woes or success, its a company (designed specifically to generate profits). Certainly, it would think of ways to make money, whether with less risk, recycle/adopt ideas from someone else, or do something unexpected. Case in point, iPhone and iPad, of which other companies adopted and released similar products of their own.

The approach is certainly cheap, but at least its different from the previous strategies (Japanese remakes/translations, remixes). Plus, its a sort of fan service. The sub-unit songs is reminiscent of Budokan special stages (I know, I bunched Soyeon and Areum together). And the girls' solo songs, its like having anime/game character songs/themes. Initially, I thought of T-ara doing a Cry Cry/TTL type with one subunit doing the fast/dance song, the other performing the ballad version. Admittedly, this one is bolder.

Another thing, it can be said the strategy is a popularity survey as well, i. e. see who are the most popular members based on sales (let's hope this would not be an excuse for CCM to pull one of its more sinister and infamous decisions).

The approach is risky, especially the solo songs. It can be expected that Soyeon, Eunjung, Hyomin, and Areum can pull theirs; Jiyeon, Boram, and Qri more doubtful. Let us hope that their individual songs are tailored for them and showcase their best aspects. Personally, I'd love the novelty of the girls having their own songs. On the positive side, if it doesn't work, good try; if it does, it may well be the direction in the future.

In any case, T-ara supporters can hope for is that at least the songs and jackets themselves are worth their cost. The strategy could pull in a load of profits for CCM/EMI/Tower Records (or whoever is involved); but if proven sub par, then expect folks to be discouraged or outright not buying the next products to be released.

PS: nothing against Hwayoung and Dani, but if they're in it, we'd probably be seeing 2-4 songs more (so for the cash-strapped its much worse). On the other hand, if the upcoming songs proved a hit, then it would be a shame the two ain't included.

  13. Cool. Though this technically makes it their 'first' Japanese album (as Jewelry Box is more of an EP, with a lot of remakes).

The approach is something I didn't expect. Thought it would be nice to do different versions of a song (TTL or Cry Cry) but with different sub groups singing for each version. But the idea is good - introduce sub groups as well as showcase individual skills. But it poses a risk too, as song selection is critical (match with whatever the singer can do). In any event, let's hope they would be successful -- go out and support the girls.

PS: though from what it appears this will be mighty expensive. Better scrimp and save...
