sleepystudent reacted to FreakyFlyBri in [12.03.06] T-ara to release first Japanese album and hold Japanese tour in June
No, it is not called "disbandment." Disbandment is when the group officially breaks up and announces that they have done so. When I say "break" I mean a vacation. A break is when they are allowed to freely pursue activities outside of work for a set period of time before returning to make a comeback. Plus 4minute and U-Kiss are hardly the best examples to use in this case as they are not nearly as profitable as T-ara or even other groups on their respective labels; they are allowed to have that time off because there are other groups that are able to make profit for their labels. Anyways, I'm not arguing semantics with you. You know the difference between a break and disbandment.
Just because they are used to having a lot of activities does not mean that they shouldn't be able to take a break, have some personal time to do whatever they please and be able to visit their families without having anything work-related to do. You may be correct that they might not agree to a full, month-long vacation where they aren't expected to do anything, but the option for them to do so would be nice. The body can only take so much before it starts to shut down. If Boram's tweets, Jiyeon's hair loss, Soyeon's public announcement that they need a vacation and her scolding of KKS ON LIVE TELEVISION and Eunjung's injuries don't ring any warning bells for you, then I don't know what will. They've made it pretty clear that they want some time off. There's nothing wrong with that, and there's nothing wrong with the fans that want it for them.
And they may only need to record a few songs for their Japanese album, but this is also around the time that they will be readying a comeback in Korea, rehearsing for their first ever concert there, and readying themselves for their Japanese tour. It will NOT be an easy time for them. Giving them some REAL time off before summer is in the best interests of the girls and their health. Better yet, spacing out promotions so that they aren't nearly overlapping with each other would be the best course of action. We all saw how wiped out the girls were when they were simultaneously promoting Black Eyes in Korea and Yayaya in Japan...it was not a pretty sight. Long story short, it's okay to be excited about their comebacks but don't shut your eyes to the fact that they are overworked, and they've made it clear themselves that they would like some time off. They've looked very tired during their J-Roly-Poly performances and promotion, so obviously the break you're talking about isn't that great if they aren't looking well-rested. It's common knowledge that most idols are overworked and sleep-deprived, but when the same names keep popping up on the top of people's lists as the most overworked of the bunch (in this case, T-ara), then something is very, very wrong.
Not trying to start an argument or make you feel bad, I just disagree with your sentiment that they don't deserve some true time off where they are not expected to do anything work-related. EVERYBODY deserves that, regardless of whether their work is their passion or not. After all, your passion can become something you hate when you're not able to take time away from it to do other things. Why do you think KARA nearly disbanded and DBSK split up? They worked entirely too much and saw relatively little personal benefit from it.

Ya,... during this whole time, I've been waiting for their Lovey Dovey promotions to end so they could get their 10 days vacation; I haven't forgotten about it but load and behold! Now they're doing Roly Poly promotions in Japan.. where the **** did that vacation go? and really, 10 days =/= 3 years of hard non-stop work + all those physical and mental stress these girls went through.
And about Eunjung's knee injury. Shouldn't people wonder what is she doing up and about with a nasty injury like that? Wouldn't be logical for her to just sit tight for at least a month with no appearances? Like I'm all for that 'professionalism' that people call it, but frankly, I'll like to call it a company's irresponsibility. There could be long term side-effects for her if it doesn't heal right, especially with her running around everywhere doing promotions, filming and appearances. I would think that the people/staffs of the places that she would've/should've appeared at would understand if she couldn't make it. If not, then they're just a bunch of ***wipes =~=
When i watched that one program that showed T-ara's killer schedule compare to the bigger more popular idols like SJ and SNSD, it made SJ and SNSD look like they were on vacation! I think the worst part of all that was SJ and SNSD has almost twice the members of T-ara and their (SJ/SNSD) schedules look practically empty! Of course, if they were promoting something, it might've been different but with 9-10 members, even if some were on leave/not present atm, there should at least be something on everyday for these groups, even if it is just one or two members that are doing it, right? bleh, not bashing SJ or SNSD, just pointing out something seriously wrong with how CCM is managing T-ara
    -Edit-
A full album is coming out sometime in July and... a comeback, like in a full album? then yes i agree too! Full album, full of T-ara goodness!!

Hehe, for 2012, we'll get to see all the members performing
Hope this means that the active actresses in T-ara can get more rest in 2012 and not be shuffled around from their acting schedules and performances

sleepystudent reacted to Scatter_88mil in [SPAZZ] What do u think about T-ara's 'Killer Schedule' ?
Having a killer schedule doesn't necessarily grant you more popularity - Big Bang and 2NE1 are nearly not as active than any of the popular idol groups around Korea and they're still widely known. It's 'staying popularity' that's the real deal and T-ara has already achieved that - they're not going to fade away so easily considering they've had a lot of comebacks last year and have gained a good hold into the public's knowledge.
Even if the schedule is tight, the basics must be kept at the least - that's proper rest and meals and occasional vacations. Even SM gives its idols a rest once in a while - hell, T-ara hasn't even had a vacation since their debut and not a single day of rest since last summer. Their schedule has turned from the typical one of an idol to something that's simply not worth even looking at. Even the South Korean military gives its troops more rest and proper meals than what CCM gives to T-ara - and the former's training regime is considered among the most toughest worldwide (especially the Marine Corps).
If CCM wants to continue on with T-ara, it's about time they concede fairly - give T-ara at least a one or two-month vacation and a lesser workload. If not, then T-ara really should change to someplace else, preferably YG. CCM a while back did say they'll give the group a 10-day break but now T-ara's busy promoting in Japan while Ji Yeon and Eun Jung are busy with the dramas they're starring in and that won't end until at least late March. CCM's either deliberately delayed the break or has told nothing but a big fat lie. Even if isn't a lie, 10 days is nowhere near enough to compensate for over 3 years of no vacations and 8 months of no rest. For Christ's sake, the group's had a lot of cases with members fainting and collapsing, serious injuries and in recent times, depressing posts in Twitter.
If the people here really are fans, they should support an online petition to demand T-ara a true vacation. I'm supporting such a decision all the way. As fans, our number one priority is to be supportive and caring to their WELL-BEING, not their performances or what music they release. If the celebrity you adore so much is popular but whose mental and physical health is clearly deteriorating while you pay little attention to it and hope the agency will actually do something, then you are an idiot.
Should any case where CCM decide not to give T-ara a break at all, then Kim Kwang Su has lost his marbles, followed by potentially triggering off something similar to those nasty cases like what happened with DBSK, Suju's Hangeng, KARA's Nicole, Hara and Seung Yeon and Big Bang's plans on running away (thankfully, YG compensated fairly by giving into Big Bang's complaints and demands and the environment is much better). Not even Kim Kwang Su's influence and power in the K-Pop industry will save him, considering SM lost its court battle against DBSK.

Shessh, i'm surprise that they all haven't landed in the hospital at the same time for being overworked
and that 10 day vacation.. i wonder if you can really call it a vacation! They better not have any schedule during that 10 day, although it would be tough not seeing them on a show or something, it'll be worth it for them to just rest, chill and relax

[12.01.20] T-ara beats Kim Kwangsoo and will establish official fan club!

Following their high success already with "Lovey-Dovey", girl group T-ara has beaten the stubbornCore Contents Media CEO Kim Kwangsoo 30-year old decision of not creating fanclubs. Between T-ara and Kim Kwangsoo was a heated decision whether or not to form an official fanclub, but a final decision was reached recently.
T-ara will establish an official fanclub this summer!
T-ara has won #1 on the latest episode of KBS2TV "Music Bank" after not being able to grab the top spot since two years ago. Not only that, but T-ara has ranked #1 in "M!Countdown" and "Inkigayo", as well as being #1 in various music charts.
In 1982, Kim Kwangsoo began as the manager of famous singer Gim Wanseon and soon help make Jo Sungmo's succesful career. Since then, never once has Kim Kwangsoo formed an official fanclub for a singer. With a popular singer, usually there is a fanclub that comes along as well, but not in T-ara's case.
T-ara debuted in 2009 with "Lies". Several times, T-ara has told Kim Kwangsoo, "We really want an official fanclub!" But Kim Kwangsoo has resisted.
After T-ara's consistent string of hits and being active constantly, the tables have turned against the stubborn Kim Kwangsoo.
Followed by, "I thought T-ara would first have to become a group receiving interest worldwide and have a stronger backing, which is why there was no plans of establishing an official fanclub. Every opportunity that T-ara has, they would tell me how much they wanted an official fanclub."
Kim said that after "Roly-Poly", "Cry Cry" and now "Lovey-Dovey", he feels as if T-ara is a really popular girl group. "For the first time in 30 years, I've been beaten by my artists and decided to create an official fanclub for T-ara."
In addition he said, "Step by step, we'll begin to form the large fanclub that'll be ready by summer. T-ara members are still unaware that I made this decision of an official fanclub, so I hope it's a good holiday present for T-ara."

Yup. I hope our girls and fans have a good time at the concert.
Here is why I think it is quite absurd in your line of arguing to assume that there's a grand majority of discrimination in music in the U.S. I don't think you can tell the difference between favoritism and bigotry, unless your deliberations hasn't reached to that conclusion yet. The base foundation of the U.S. music market is to celebrate the spirit and joy in and through music, in a diverse cultural society. Even many artists from around the world come to the U.S., because people enjoy listening and learning music from around the world here with each generation. It is quite apprehensive to assume music is now the means of invading another country, unless meaningless pride has finally blinded the truth that music is just music and not weapons of mass destruction. The lucidness in K-Pop in the U.S. is found in the perception to enjoy and understand the music and culture, not to mention its people and the artists who represent them. Certainly there are degrees of favoritism that is exercised every day of every moment in people's lives. That doesn't mean there are huge lynch mobs of anti-K-Pop-protestors, roaming the streets demanding a ban be placed on Korea, all over the U.S. You're scared then, if you think this way.
Thanks to the internet and superb technologies, many Americans enjoy music in a real time setting these days, and look forward to live performances that will be coming to them. Americans are not closed-minded. There are many reasons why K-Pop hasn't broke ground till now in the U.S., and I can assure you, discrimination is definitely not one of those reasons, unless your argument is claiming to be a U.S. music industry insider that enjoys relaxing and joking around with leading CEOs on company paid retreats, and vacations at luxurious resorts, and get-aways, which I doubt right now. The "ugly truth" syndrome is just a silly cliche, because "truth" is just "the truth" with no emotional attachments. The truth in K-Pop in the U.S. is thriving and building, which will endure generation after generation of our people, because music is a part of our lives.
