[14.10.30] T-ara surges forward with multiple interviews by various Chinese media outlets!
 
In light of the official announcement by MBK Entertainment and Longzhen Culture of T-ARA's venture into the Chinese music & entertainment industry, Chinese media outlets like Sohu, Sina, NetEase and even Tudou have stepped forward to interview our girls. The start of the interview consisted of general questions asking T-ARA about songs they like, what do they do in their free time, exercising regime, etc. The main crux of the interview was the question about T-ARA's plans to release a Chinese album (with Mandarin songs of course). Soyeon mentioned that they will be releasing a Chinese album at some point and to show support for their upcoming China Tour in 2015.

The interview started off again with questions about their recently promoted album (which all of us are so familiar with already) and general questions about their lifestyle. What was interesting about this interview was that T-ARA was asked why they were known as a "chameleon girl group" in the sense that they are able to pull off so many different unique concepts. This is something that is worth mentioning and deserves merit just for the fact that the interviewer actually did some research on T-ARA's background. T-ARA also mentioned that they will be appearing on various media like dramas, variety shows, CFs and even movies in China. Once again, they mentioned the China Tour that will be happening in 2015.

Before the interview even started, the video gives us a peek into what would be discussed: T-ARA is interested in working with Jackie Chan during their activities in China. Even though the interview is a tad short, the main things that us Queen's want to hear are covered. Once again, the China Tour 2015 is mentioned by Hyomin and Soyeon tells us that all members in T-ARA will be making appearances on various media works but this time did not specify what types. Of course the most important part is all of them are getting exposure, which is the best for T-ARA. Boram told us that all of T-ARA members idolize Jackie Chan in some way and would be very happy and honored if they had the opportunity to work out something together with him. Let's keep our fingers crossed shall we? Eunjung gave us a tease about "Little Apple", telling us that they would be considering performing the original choreography on stage although the song will be remade.

The whole setting of their latest interview yet, with Net Ease is a rather informal and fun one. The interview did not cover much and seemed more like promoting the individual songs of their And&End album, apart from just "Sugar Free". On a side note, Hyomin mentioned about Number 9, which is by far their most popular song in China, just by looking at how they maintained their first place on YinYueTai for as long as I can remember. Nevertheless, the end of the interview was a very short display of their Mandarin skills (still in the learning stages of course).

 

And there you have it, a short summary of each interview with influential Chinese media bodies, notably Sina and Tudou. What most important is that T-ARA keeps giving us a confirmation and also a bit of a promotion of their China Tour that will be happening in 2015, duration and exact commencement date still yet to be announced. Aside from the tour that would mainly comprise concerts and fan meets, they would be appearing on the Chinese television and the big screen. Expect to see T-ARA in various posters around China too since they would be having CFs as well. All in all, a big win for T-ARA in China, and hopefully would increase their popularity across Asia, and ultimately international presence. Of course we should never forget that this would contribute to their popularity and public recognition in Korea as well, inevitably.

[14.09.23] T-ara release music video for English version of #SUGARFREE.. and tease possible international club tour in October?

Various global leading DJs have participated in creating remixes for the special album. Domestic DJs such as DJ Ferry, DJ Beatrappa, and DJ Dion have participated as well as DJ Big Bounce and Monster Factory.
The top Dutch DJ known as DJ Chuckie (who has worked on remixes with Michael Jackson and LMFAO) has also participated.
 

 
The special album with remixes of “Sugar Free” will be released on the 24th and all of the remixes have unique and original music. There was also a brief mention of an international club tour with DJ Chuckie’s and Sugar Free, but there wasn’t information about if T-ara will join this tour. There will be additional information revealed early next month.
 
The special album will have 18 different EDM remixes and includes a limited edition English version. The music video for DJ Ferry’s remix has been released and is posted above.

The remixes will be produced by various DJs such as Ferry, Beatrappa, Dion, Jeffrey Choi, DJ Big Bounce x DJ OneTwo and The Monster Factory.

Sugar Free follows the genre of Big Room, a sub-genre of EDM. The song will now be adapted into different forms of club music, providing us more than one way to enjoy an already amazing track.

Today on the 5th; Boram, Qri and Hyomin visited the Angel Headquarters on behalf of T-ara to make a donation of 1500 kg of rice. The Angels Headquarters is a non-profit organization that seeks to aid people, adults and children, in despair through more than simply monetary donations. They seek to provide hope and warmth to people's hearts.
T-ara's generous gesture comes with the upcoming Korean holiday, Chuseok, on September 8th. "It seems I'll be able to spend the holidays with T-ara's warm donation," a thankful father says.
The donated rice will be delivered to the facilities that houses single mothers and their children.
We thank our girls for their charitable act and hope we can follow their example and provide hope for all those in need.

So you see, things are starting to look very good.

Will there be any girl group that fits the word ‘Love and Hate’ as much as T-ara. Having had so many hit songs after their debut in 2009, T-ara had gained a popularity that doesn’t only stop with the fandom but also the general public. The members who have it all from looks to talents, have received love from not only group activities but also from personal activities in dramas to entertainment to musicals. However, that love has turned into scary hate.
In a split-second, the fans who used to applaud for them have turned into ‘Anti’s who would fire malicious comments and vulgar curses at them. They received criticisms in the middle of controversy of losing a member and undergoing changes. They apologised and explained. They bowed their heads and pleaded but turning around the heart of the public that has once changed was not easy.
Now, T-ara has chosen to wait while shedding sweat (working hard) instead of continuously explaining. Whether they will be able to regain their past glory is an uncertain thing to even the members, themselves. However, they can’t just sink down. On the 11th, T-ara are releasing their 10th mini-album and coming back with group activities. They were sure it’s a ‘music and stage that no other girl group has tried until now’. We met with T-ara’s Soyeon, Eunjung, and Jiyeon at some open bar in Seoul. The first words of the members who went to sit down were “We might smell like sweat since we were practicing the dance just a while ago”.
T-ARA “There were many songs that even we didn’t understand.”
- First, checking their drinking limit.
Eunjung: For me, up to half a bottle of Soju. I’m the type whose face would turn so terribly reddish so I can’t drink often.
Soyeon: I can’t drink at all, unlike how I look like. I once drank one cup then got taken to the emergency room right away when I was in university. I would pour myself one cup of beer to wing it.
Jiyeon: For me too, half a bottle of Soju. But it’s a shame there aren’t much chances to hold drinking parties.
- T-ara’s new album as a group will be out soon.
Jiyeon: One of the most popular music genres in clubs nowadays is EDM (Electronic Dance Music) Music. And that includes a genre called ‘Big Room’ that is of strong beats. When you pass by a club you would feel the strong beats and dance along while feeling excited.
Soyeon: It’s a genre that no girl group has ever tried before. Composer Shinsadong Tiger oppa has done the mixing, alone, 10 times. Our dance team has also suffered a lot, one of the dancers who’s been a dancer for more than 20 years said “It’s my first time making such a choreography.”
T-ARA “Our position now is obscure.”
- The average life span of girl groups is 5 years, you’re now on your 6th year.
Eunjung: Actually, it’s a worry since we’re a group who has spent a lot of time. However, I think there are many things that are more important than a ‘span’. Rather than only worrying, we are trying to show new sides of us and receive love from more fans.
- Where do you see T-ara’s position In the present music industry?
Soyeon: We think it’s an ‘obscure position’. In fact, I think we used to be on top in the past. Of course, there were SNSD sunbae-nims, KARA sunbae-nims, 2NE1 sunbae-nims and the like above us, but I think T-ara, too, has had many no.1 songs and received love. However, we’re now not rookies nor ‘no.1 singers’ so we’re in an obscure position. The company and the members are wishing for a very strong comeback. In order to be able to become top-tier again.
- Jiyeon, you were the 1st to go solo in T-ara. How was it like.
Jiyeon: First, It felt so lonely. Since I used to always be with the members, but I wasn’t (during my solo). Since I’m the magnae, the unnies have taken care of me and supported me, but it was hard since I was alone whenever I got interviewed or went on broadcasts.
- Wasn’t there any good points (of going solo).
Jiyeon: Since it was only me, it took a short time to prepare my makeup and hair so I liked it. (Laughs). It also felt very spacious at the car, I liked it. (Laughs).
Eunjung: What I was the most envious of was that she was able to bring her puppy along at the waiting room. All of the T-ara members really love puppies. When we’re having group activities there would be so many people at the waiting room and it’d be messy so we can’t even think of bringing our puppies. However, it’s possible when you’re a solo singer.

- I think you’d make a kakao talk group for the members and chat a lot there.
Soyeon: It’s mostly complaints. (Laughs). ‘Ah it’s so tiring’, ‘That certain schedule today was really tiring’, ‘Will this song do well’, and along that. Eunjung’s role is mostly informing us, ‘They say we’re doing so and so in so and so schedule, you all prepare’. Hyomin would release her ideas, while Qri unnie and Boram unnie would reply to us, and worry along.
Jiyeon: All I say is ‘Let’s go ride skateboards’. (Laughs). But no one would answer me. (Laughs). When I check the number (of how many people read the message), they all have read it but still none answers so I’d say “Why are you not replying”, only then the unnies would say “Uh I have something to do today”, “Uh I can’t” and among that. (Laughs).
-Have you ever went out of your dorms without your manager knowing (T-ara has lived in dorms for 3 years).
Eunjung: At midnight, we stuffed pillows under our blankets, put on wigs, and hardly escaped but when we went out we didn’t have anything to do. It’s not even like we can go to clubs, we couldn’t play around properly fearing that some weird rumours would come out. We just went to a 24 hours coffee shop. But why were we so happy.
Jiyeon: We don’t even have any friends to meet at such a time. It’s a time where everyone would be sleeping so who would hang out. So we’d tempt a member and hang out. (Laughs).
- Soyeon-ssi, you are officially dating Oh Jong Hyuk, is Oh Jong Hyuk close with the members too.
Soyeon: We don’t have time to meet at all. (Laughs). We both have very busy lives, and we’re the type who respect each other’s jobs. Because we can’t get in each others’ way. We try our best to arrange our time and meet wisely. There are even cases where we meet for only 10 minutes and then part away. (Laughs).
- Seeing Soyeon-ssi dating, you might want to date as well. What kind of a man do you want to meet.
Eunjung: I have nothing in mind. Someone who works in the industry is fine and a common person is fine, as long as we are fated to be then we can date each other.
Jiyeon: I actually used to want to date, but nowadays I don’t even think of it. Since we started working on our album (the thought of dating) has vanished away.
Soyeon: Since Jiyeon’s ideal type is someone who ‘doesn’t look like an idol’, it’s very hard for her to date. (Laughs). Actually, since idols would cast an ‘eye’ on other idols there are many cases in which idols date each other. For Jiyeon, even when there are many male idols in her surroundings she doesn’t approach anyone since she doesn’t like the pretty and ‘delicate’ kind at all. She likes the warm type like Yang DongGeun sunbae-nim but this type doesn’t exist at all among the surrounding idols.
- We thought you’d like a pretty flower boy with long ‘model pose’ legs.
Jiyeon: Ohh no way. no way no way. People in my surroundings do not ask me out because everyone thinks that I only like flower boys. And if someone who has a flower boy image asks me out, I actually don’t really like it. (Laughs).
- Haven’t there been any false rumours before? Ones that you just want to go and correct.
Soyeon: There have been all kind of rumours. Hearing made up stories (about us) is very tiring. In the past we used to feel upset when they tell us about the rumours as if they were true but now we think it’s our share to endure them.
-Do you check internet comments.
Soyeon: I used to read them a lot in the past. Now, I don’t at all. It was hard to put up with the comments as they were slowly leaning toward the bad side. I actually even thought that “I want to die” once which I shouldn’t think of. Why? Because I have someone in my family who had caught an illness after being hurt (from malicious comments). I might be able to read comments when I get stronger, but for now it hurts my heart a lot and makes me weak.
Jiyeon: Yep, I never read them either.
Eunjung: I read them. Only on days when I’m feeling clearheaded. (Laughs). I read them on days when I think that ‘I can read them and get them out of my mind.’ However, if it’s a day where I can’t let my schedule get affected emotionally then I do not read them. it’s forthcoming for an idol when it comes to being on stage, you have to show a confident look, but when you shrink in front of the audience due to being hurt from online comments then the stage will be ruined.
- (After the scandal) I think even your personalities might have changed.
Eunjung: We changed a lot. We’ve become more timid about the society. We think “will they hate me if I do this”, “will they curse me if I act like this” way too much now. It can’t be helped since we’re celebrities but we became more conscious. To put in a good way, we became more cautious, and to put it in a bad way, we became more careful.
-At last, say a word to your fans.
Soyeon: It’s not a short time you’ve been waiting for T-ara, but I believe you couldn’t go crazy anticipating our album last time. We tried harder and prepared in order to make up for that. Having underwent hardships, I think we became more mentally mature. We want to show you that as well.
Eunjung: It’s our group comeback in about 1 year, but just as much, we had many thoughts. We’re T-ara who’s into their 6th year but we will show you a rookie-like image.
Jiyeon: I’m always very sorry to our fans. We want to show you a back-to-basics side to us in this time’s activities. Please watch over us.

[14.04.24] Female solo singer A disposes new music video’s controversial clips.. Is “solo singer A” Jiyeon?


According to a blind item post on Instiz, a female solo singer called “A” has discarded parts of new music video ahead of her comeback.
The article reveals that the music video featured controversial clips of the singer with rushing water and in a water-filled box. The music video shoot took place on the 16th before the ferry accident came to light, but considering the current atmosphere, it would only be right to not disclose the controversial content of the video.


The music video description fits Jiyeon pretty well, as we saw a soaking wet Jiyeon dancing in the rain in her previously released BTS spoiler video.
The agency of the singer said, “A lot of money and hard work went into the shoot, but considering the current situation, we gathered opinions on if we should dispose of the content. It was only natural to. We do not want to cause any sort of inconvenience at all to the families of the incident so we have decided we will not show those parts.”
The singer was scheduled to comeback at the end of April and the beginning of May, but it’s been delayed. The agency said, “We do not know for sure the timing of the comeback since broadcasters are not sure either. We will carefully watch the situation and rearrange the schedule.”
It was revealed that the planners of the comeback are incredibly worried now. Performing on music shows and getting on the rankings is a priority, but it looks like music shows won’t be back until around the second week in May for sure. Even with that, it’s difficult to guarantee a good spot. The comeback for “A” was supposed to be in April because the solo singer had already had a comeback with her group prepared afterwards. The already narrow-gap for her comeback has disappeared.
Jiyeon’s solo debut was going to be at the end of April through mid-May, since T-ara is also preparing a group comeback in Japan with their third Japanese album Gossip Girls on May 15th. Of course, with T-ara’s jam-packed schedules, Jiyeon had a very minimal amount of time fit for a solo debut.
Despite that, the agency of “A” has said they are flexible though. They said, “We will look at the what’s the best. It’s more likely that the album will just have come out around July during the World Cup.”

[14.04.15] Eunjung cast as the lead female role alongside Lee Jangwoo in new movie "The Boss Begins"!


Great news for Eunjung fans today! After three years, we will finally be able to see our Baekgu going back into acting through the new film "The Boss Begins" (director Park Seunghyun)!

On the 15th, an official for the movie revealed to Asiae, "T-ara's Eunjung has joined the production of 'The Boss Begins' alongside Lee Jangwoo and Son Hojoon."

"The Boss Begins" follows the trilogy of the 2001 film "My Boss, My Hero", 2005's "My Boss, My Teacher" and 2007's "The Mafia, The Salesman". Park Seonghyun, the director of the movie "Three Kims", will be the director of "The Boss Begins".

Eunjung previously had roles in the dramas "Coffee House" and "Dream High" as well as the movie "White: The Curse of the Melody". In 2011, she appeared in MBC's "We Got Married" as the virtual wife of Lee Jangwoo and now she will appear again with him through the new movie.

For the past three years, Eunjung has focused only on T-ara's activities. This will be her first lead role since "White".

"The Boss Begins" is aiming for a summer release.

[13.12.30] T-ara's Boram cast as the lead character in the musical "The Lost Garden"


T-ara member Jeon Boram was cast as the lead female character in the musical "The Lost Garden".

The musical will begin on January 17th, 2014 and is the story of what happens when walls come down and hearts open. The setting is a beautiful garden that is guarded by an angry giant. Boram will be able to showcase her vocals in her solos "Wondrous Dream" and "The Lost Garden".

Boram said, "I will try my best to express the pure genuineness of Mercy. Right now I am clearing out my mind and calming myself so I can execute my role to the best of my ability."

The musical premiered in Shanghai on June 8th and 9th and then made it's way overseas. The musical is based on "The Selfish Giant" by Oscar Wilde and tells a story about love, friendship and happiness.
Singer Kim Taewoo will play the lead male role in the musical.

[13.12.10] T-ara to auction off their own personal items in charity event on the 24th


T-ara will hold a charity event for the less fortunate.

T-ara will take a break from their busy activities to volunteer and directly donate to the elderly, disabled children, and nurseries. They will visit various neighborhoods and take the lead in the volunteer services.

T-ara will hold a charity auction and auction off some of their own personal items such as costumes and accessories for a total of over 300 items. T-ara will directly auction the pieces on site for charity.

T-ara's auction will also be live-streamed on the Internet worldwide for about three hours. Some of the goods being auctioned on the 24th can also be purchased over the Internet.

T-ara's charity and auction event will be held on the 24th from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Nonhyeon cafe Cafenne and 100% of the proceeds will go to charity. Other stars including Davichi, Ha Seokjin, Hwang Jungeum and Son Hojun will join the charity event and auction their own things as well.

T-ara managed to gain their currently popularity in China before they had any promotion in China (they were this popular before their recent concerts in China and their attendance at the Anhui Chinese New Year Festival).

T-ara managed to gain their currently popularity in China before they had any promotion in China (they were this popular before their recent concerts in China and their attendance at the Anhui Chinese New Year Festival).

Don't have any significant numbers with me, however I've most commonly observed T-ara stated to being amongst the top 3 most popular groups (followed by other statements of top 5 and then various others, some of which they aren't even mentioned haha.)
These are some numbers I came across before from a study conducted by HunanTV this year back in June/July-ish I think (listing only top 3):

According to Wiki at least (unless a Chinese member here can clarify this), HunanTV is the second most watched channel in China. Now those votes could all just be fandom power but if so that alone is some pretty good fandom power.

[13.12.04] T-ara's Japanese fanclub suddenly shutting down.. Will they stop Japanese activities?


Fans were left confused and wondering if T-ara will put an end to Japanese promotions after it was announced that T-ara's Japanese fanclub will be abruptly shut down next year in April.

T-ara's official fanclub in Japan "Sweet Treasure" announced via their website that "After T-ara contract expires in April 2014, T-ara's fanclub will be dismissed. The registration renewal will end on the 31st and the fanclub and website will be shut down in April next year."

They also said "Next April will be the final version of the newsletter, but members cannot ask for a refund. Please understand." They also thanked fans for their support for the past three years and apologized for the announcement.

Korean netizens and T-ara's fans were left confused what was happening next and if T-ara will sign a new contract with a new agency.

In regards to this, Core Contents Media said on the 4th, "T-ara's contract with the local Japanese agency J-ROCK that managed T-ara win Japan will expire in April of next year and they will not be resigning it thus the fanclub and website operation by J-ROCK being put to an end."

Core Contents Media continued to say, "Core Contents Media's Japanese office CCM Japan will manage them. There are no plans yet to automatically switch the fans into a new fanclub, but T-ara will not cancel Japanese activities point blank. Next year, they will focus more on Chinese activities."

T-ara are holding their comeback on the 5th at Mnet's "M!Countdown" with their new song "What Do I Do".

[13.10.25] T-ara's "What Do I Do" jacket image to be determined by fan votes


Girl group T-ara will have fans vote on what their album jacket image should be for their new song "What Do I Do".

T-ara's agency Core Contents Media revealed today that from the 28th to the 30th, T-ara fans will have the opportunity to vote for the jacket image for T-ara's "What Do I Do". The most popular jacket image will be the one used.

T-ara fans who vote in the contest will be nominated into a lottery to be able to win a chance to go to the music video set for "What Do I Do" and experience the song and concept before anyone else. Only five fans will be chosen.

T-ara will release "What Do I Do" on December 2nd. It is a remake of Sand Pebbles' 1977 song "What Do I Do".
