T-ara 10th Anniversary Project – The Ocean Cleanup
This year on July 29th will mark 10 years of T-ara!
T-ara have made numerous philanthropic efforts and Diadem has followed their example each year, including continuous rice wreath donations, building a water well to provide clean water in Kenya, planting a forest in metropolitan Seoul and making a donation to the Save the Children organization to help the children of Syria.
As T-ara’s 10th anniversary approaches, Diadem will honor this incredible milestone with an important donation to the Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organization, developing advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic.
About 8 million metric tons of plastic is thrown into the ocean annually [1], on top of the estimated 150 million metric tons that currently circulate our marine environments.[2] Of those, 236,000 tons are microplastics – tiny pieces of broken-down plastic smaller than your little fingernail.[3]
This plastic waste is killing marine life and destroying ecosystems. Marine organisms can’t distinguish common plastic items from food and end up consuming them, which often causes them to starve because they can’t digest the plastic.[4] Coral have an 89% of becoming diseased when coming in contact with plastic.[5] Coral reefs are home to more than 25% of marine life.[6]
1st Goal: $500
2nd Goal: $1000
3rd Goal: $1500
Deadline: Open
