CNN airs the Taiwanese version of "Bo Peep Bo Peep", controversies arise

The U.S News channel CNN reported on the popular Taiwanese singer Lotus Wang (42)'s new song 'Bobee', but has been controversial amongst Korean fans.

CNN and MTV introduced Lotus Wang by mentioning how she has sold more than 100 million records and started a worldwide craze over YouTube with her latest song 'Bobee'. They also gave her high praises, comparing her to Beyonce.

However, after it aired, it appeared on various online bulletin boards and received many complaints from Korean fans on how 'Bobee' wasn't the original, and how they did not even mention T-ara's name.

In fact, Lotus Wang's 'Bobee' was a remake of T-ara's Bo Peep Bo Peep' and was reproduced with the permission of agency officials and the composer.

Netizens said, "They aired a parody instead", "It's a remake, right? It's not plagiarism?", "T-ara's music videos have much more hits on YouTube. They do not even know what they are reporting," and were very bitter.

maybe CNN doesn't really know about the origin of that Taiwanese "Bo Peep Bo Peep", it's normal for netizens to complain because yes, it's really annoyed when our favorite group like T-ARA isn't being mentioned meanwhile the one that's plagiarism is being praised highly..I really hate that!! >.<

Now I really hate her for making this remake song! It's like spoiling the original song, like making fun of it! If such stupid songs made it to CNN, then I feel T-ara should have been on CNN for many times more already!!!!!

that's seriously insane, it's not good at all >____< I watched it, and I like the T-ara one sooo much better (not just because I'm a T-ara fan lol, their quality + vocals were just much better), so how come this one's getting so much publicity? gaah

Well atleast she got permission from the composer and agency, but kinda wish there was a mention that it was a remake of T-ara's song.

Seems like everyone like the BoPeep Tune haha. too bad it wasn't T-ara's version. but im sure, since the fans of T-ara that are making a fuss about it, it'll spread that the thai version isn't the original and T-ara will get recognition in another way.

T-ara Fighting.

t-ara is much better for bo peep bo peep :P

what the hell is happening???

why don't they mention T-ara....T-ara's Bo peep bo peep is original

CNN what are you doing??? I think you should foud out imformation carefully

oh my god, even they compare LW to beyonce=))

If we see this problem in active way, T-ara's song really popular:))

"..she has sold more than 100 million records....."....

it's that fact true??????

wow...how popular is she???.....

poor t-ara...at least they should get credit as the real singer of that song...

Wow. How dumb. I'm just sayin' CNN needs to start looking at the history of stuff in Asian Entertainment before they report it. So they don't appear stupid. Gosh.

Posted

lol that other version sounded a bit weird... lol hope people wnt think all asian music sound like that.. hope t-ara would be featured nxt... t-ara fighiting!!!

Posted

well the original one is always better. but its kinda true how they just mentioned it was a remake of a south korean group and not mentioning t-aras name, :/. T-ara deserves more.

Posted

When I watched it on CNN, I just kept "wow-ing." CNN really couldn't say "a cover of a South Korean group named T-ara" or at least say that it was a cover of BPBP? -_-"

I was kind of disappointed how T-ara wasn't even mentioned... I mean it's their song... at least give them some credit.

Maybe it's just my personal taste but I don't really like the taiwanese one... the original is the one I fell in love with and no remake is going to replace it.
