  1. I always get really emotional when I see K-Netizen reactions on various websites about any T-ara related articles. They're always bashing on them and I can't help to get angry and overprotective. I just want to bring some common sense into those people. I know some people are gonna think I'm crazy for thinking like this, but I don't know why I do it, I can't stop myself. This is really sensitive for me.

Am I being too much? What do you guys do about this or put more simply, how do you feel about it? And lastly, do you have any advice on how should I react?

Ah, just reading this post on my own makes me seem not mentally healthy, I hope you guys understand me.

Even if you only read this, thank you.

Well, first and foremost easy solution to it - if it makes you emotional, don't read it.

It's not like T-ara themselves read those comments either (most of the time anyway). When one member comes out saying she was depressed or had suicidal tendencies, was physically struck by a nutter etc. then you can start really being concerned 100%. There were fears something bad like that was happening months ago, but as time passed, chances of such is no longer happening.

Bluntly put, nothing to worry about until something really crazy happens, despite the unlikeliness (as mentioned above).

I would however, say that the hate is not exactly a baseless irrational thing, if you consider one major social issue Korea has been faced with, backed up with growing public pressure - bullying. And as someone who has witnessed and also experienced such while living there, it's actually pretty understandable why - like many cases of bullying in Korea, it's always the victim who gets the short hand of the stick and winds up having to leave and transfer schools while the perpetrators themselves get little to no punishment - in the eyes of many when it comes to T-ara's case, Hwayoung's fate in the group wasn't really all that different to a school bully victim, not to mention KKS slandered her through the media, which quickly worsened the situation immensely for the group.

T-ara's scandal unfortunately occurred at a time where anti-bullying sentiment had grown explosively. Had it happened at a much different time, the outcome likely would have been vastly different.

If you want to truly blame someone, put your finger on their dumbass of a CEO.

  2. Everyone has their own interpretations on what defines to be a 'true' fan - but I certainly can say one thing for sure - those who become fanatics/extremists or people unreasonable or unwilling to accept even a slighty bit of skepticism and criticism (let's be frank here, T-ara ain't perfectly saints as some people try to make them out to be) are a bloody embarrassment.

Being a fan doesn't mean you need/should/have to support the group on everything they do - especially considering that much of the time, CCM is the one that's pulling the strings and anyone who's followed the group for long enough knows that CCM is one of the worst labels to exist in Korea. Unconditional support on everything just leads to blindness. For example - a LOT of regular members here absolutely opposed Areum and Dani's addition into the group and had very, very valid reasons to do so but that didn't stop them from migrating some place else - and when their comeback returned as 6-ara, were happy about it.

Ultimately, it's all up to the individual to decide (minus the nutcases).

Personally though, I don't think there is no real definition of a 'true' fan. We're all just people who have a mutual interest/attraction/admiration towards the group and more specifically, to certain members as well (hence the term 'bias').

  3. @CptFantasy

I'm not saying they're liars - all I'm saying is I find their words of 'praising' KKS to be very, very distrustful and suspicious. And adding in CCM's notorious record of making contradictory statements and blatant lies, it doesn't hurt to be suspicious of the girls' words in front of the TV as well.

For a group that's been around for 4.5 years and enduring a toxic work environment for that long, it doesn't make much sense (or any for the matter) for them to sound so sympathetic to him. Imagine if you were in the same position, having only 2-3 hours of sleep on nearly a daily basis, grueling schedules that last all day long, starvation diets and the like for that long. It takes a dictator to keep dissent resulting from that to be suppressed under the radar.

Everything we enjoy from them in front of our screens, they go through a lot themselves - many people however, fail to see that.

  4. ^ I would be very skeptical of what Eunjung states in interviews when it comes down to KKS as the topic. It's not exactly uncommon for her, or pretty much anyone in the group, to praise or 'sympathize' with him in public - they've been doing that for quite some time actually, and the only time they ever got close to really criticizing/standing up against him was last year Feb when Soyeon openly stated how little sleep and overwhelming work the group gets and bluntly asked him on TV for a vacation, with Hyomin and Boram at her sides.

And I certainly would not qualify KKS getting 'old' as a valid reason. Being at the age of 52 as of now, he's far from it, especially his extensive track record of grossly poor management and shifting the blame on others over stuff he is responsible for. Having also been active in the showbiz for 30+ years, and with a lot of power in his hands (being also one of the chief figures of Mnet Media/CJ E&M), it's extremely doubtful he would let it off easy on the girls, or admit and be responsible for the hell he's put through not just on them but everyone else in CCM that got on the wrong side of him - not to mention the significant possibility that he also had not done his mandatory military service either (and the daunting fact that many big wigs in the K-showbiz have ties with organized crime).

Regardless of what he does as 'positive', it should not excuse the mistreatment he's put them through. Considering T-ara's been active for now 4.5 years, I wouldn't think the group would be so forgiving to him over a scandal, big or small. He's a power-hungry, ruthless and greedy *******, much like any major K-pop CEOs. It doesn't get any simpler than that. And people in power like him don't tend to admit or learn from their mistakes. They just find new ways to make more.

It also remains unknown exactly why T-ara was reverted to its original six as well. For all we know, he may have done so because Areum just did not feel like a good fit, or for the sake of improving T-ara's image to get more profit - something CCM at this time would want very, very much right now, seeing how T-ara's more recent albums in Japan hadn't really sold off very well - which may also indicate why they decided to take the gamble on a Korean comeback.

  5. That................... is just not right dude~.. I know we all love 6-ara.. and I know we are all happy that the girls are doing fine now.. But don't you speak of Hwa like that dude.. just don't............

He/She's entitled to his own opinion though (quite honestly, I wish us 6-ara fans are allowed to express it more without getting clobbered for it)....I'm just more afraid of the obvious response .___.

  6. Okay, I believe I can agree with the bold part without any hesitation. It fits the equation and also back up your statement. If anything, believe me you wouldnt want her to announce her relationship. First and foremost, hard-core fanboy like me would have instant heart attack and would die on the spot hence decreasing the sales of the albums and fan-support. Secondly, all the Eunji shipper would either probably die or throw fist resulting to huge Crisis in SNS and excessive use of tissues *Enough said!!

Take it as a test of self-endurance and embracing reality :P All of us know that they can't stay single forever XD.

The dreams of thousands would be shattered all in one go (though didn't Eunjung say a long time ago that she had a boyfriend when she was in university???), but those who pass through it without caving in shall become the special grand elite fans of the beloved Eunjung to the very end.

Okay, maybe rewatching the Lord of the Rings trilogy wasn't the best idea XD. Pardon my moment of geekiness.

But hey, least Eunjung has a chance :P As a Boram fan here, it's pretty painful to see her actually say that she feels nobody likes her .___.

  7. I like Areum. I hope she does well in her solo career.

Clearly Core Content Media felt that T-ARA works best with their original six and the success of this comeback is a testament to that.

No changes need to be made. T-ARA's original members are what made/make them great. :)

This is CCM we're talking about. For all we know, they'll probably screw it up again in the future, given the long track record of serious blunders that pissed off many (whether fan, net or anti). For the meantime, I do hope it stays as 6-ara...but I dunno, knowing CCM, things can quickly turn south unpredictably.

  8. The amount of ass-kissing up to KKS and 'humanizing' of him in this interview is utterly disgusting. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about him. Nothing.

It's not even necessary to do so, yet they continue to speak 'good' about him on national TV like saintly angels. Worst case scenario, they've been utterly brainwashed into thinking that whatever the sh!t KKS puts through them is for the 'greater good' of their careers, even though it's not. And I certainly hope that is not the case (and prefer to believe it be that way).

That disgusting sorry-ass-excuse-of-a-human needs to suffer 10x more pain for the rest of his miserable life. There is no forgiving what he's done to them.

    Anyways,

I just don't get why idols look online for positive messages. You have fan forums and fancafes for that. Why bother going to other places where there's undoubtedly more people who aren't going to think the same way?

That being said however, wise words from Boram and Soyeon in particular, mad props to'em. Like a few peeps here mentioned, it's pretty saddening that she feels no one likes her :/ As a Boram fan, this, has been clearly evident for quite some time and I can only hope she'll find a good decent guy in the near future. I should send a handwritten letter to her :D

Probably forgot a lot more to add, but that can wait for editing I suppose.

Probably without the controversy, T-ara could have surpassed SNSD, but they would definitely not be as matured as they are now.

That would never have happened, unless SNSD went through a controversy similar to T-ara's scale. SM wouldn't have let it happen either and adding to that, SNSD's fandom is immensely massive (we're talking about hundreds of thousands) + had been active for much longer and group life-span wise, GG still has more time than T-ara, considering members like Boram and Qri are now getting old for K-idol standards, if not already.

CCM itself would be the biggest obstacle if T-ara were ever to try surpass SNSD.

  9. Well, good thing they admit that they had some blame in their hands in the issue, rather than outright denying it (yea, go choke on your own words, CCM).

With just a couple years of their life as a group left, they better be careful not to drop the soap again like last year.

NO Hwayoung!!! T-ara is fine with 6-ara the original end of... Areum is going solo

Mate, I fear you've just stirred up the beehive

That said, I don't disagree with what you said there though.

  10. It's a typical move on CCM's part of their promotional cycle - release something during autumn, and back it up with another in winter. Nothing surprising, though the most concerning issue is that the girls will not be having an easy time here. 2-3 hours of sleep on a daily basis is a sh!tty condition alone to work in.

I hope they are not overworked; they seem to be quite busy as of late.

Sadly, chances are very likely (if not absolutely) they are overworked. It's always been like this.

  11. I knew that there was something wrong about their American advancement. First, It was too sudden and KKS shouldn't send them to the U.S. without any preparation or defined plan. I think KKS was so happy to be contacted by Chris Brown that he though things would come easy. Then, as usual, CCM likes to exagerate facts in media and it always ends by affecting T-ara in the public eyes. I hate CCM management !

This is one of the major reasons why I think K-pop should never, ever, attempt to even go to the US. The differences between the two are just too vast to intermingle with one another.

  12. Not buying it, sounds like media-play at best.

Mediocre popularity and talent at best (let's be honest here, Soyeon sings better than she does and even she doesn't have a decent chance in succeeding solo), with terribad management is going to impede her pretty hard. Not to mention the with the over-saturated status of the idol market. She's gonna need more than just good luck.

If she's working as hard on her music as she is on updating Instagram over the last 2 days, she'll be unstoppable! :P

I see what you did there

  13. It came as a surprise to me when Areum left. I was starting to like her thanks to Princess T-ara. She's like the cutest doll... From her instagram updates she's doing pretty well, and she still looks like the cutest doll.

Qri already knows how to discipline her members: this video will tell you how. Out of all the readings that I've done on T-ara's past controversies, Qri got herself out of it quite clean. She did show wisdom and collectiveness over those hard times, so I believe she will do well.

I really can't comment on Dani. I have to admit reading the comments from smilingdawn, Scatter_88mil, and Emperor Ryu was both insightful and educational.

    Cheers for that hahaha :D

Personally though, I wouldn't quite refer a variety show as credible evidence on her capabilities as a leader (that position in the group if anything, seems pretty worthless of value really), though you do make quite a point about her not being involved in that major screw-up last year. Even then, there just isn't really any valid/detail/credible info that suggests she'll do a good job.

After all, she's pretty much one of the more 'mysterious' members of the group lol.

  14. I hope they will get their well deserved rest after the promotion period!

Lot of us have been hoping for a very, very long time. It still hasn't happened.

The biggest tragedy is that they've been saying this for years and lackluster performances due to exhaustion isn't exactly an uncommon occurrence for them either. I wouldn't even mind if they completely vanished for a year without a single word before making a comeback announcement.

  15. Old news. This has been sadly going on ever since their debut days as 6-ara.

Secondly, OP, they're doing it that hard because they don't have a choice. It's not like they're doing this purely for the sake of just doing it for fun and dedication. It doesn't work that way. It's gross mistreatment and can even be considered borderline slavery. Hell, even my old trainer would say that's crazy as hell, and he was a combat diver in the Navy >__>.

If they refuse to do what they're told by management particularly on national TV, then God knows what sort of axe is going to be swung down at their necks, just like what happened to Hwayoung last year.

  16. This was pretty obvious from the get-go when the first news were announced, and reeked of CCM's incompetence, like as if the garbage hadn't been taken out for weeks.

It takes a special kind of stupidity to give only a couple days' worth of prep for going to some country as massive as the US. Actually, scratch that. It takes a special kind of mental deficiency to do so. That being said, this US venture is pointless and unnecessary. It's not like T-ara will stay around as a group in the near future (say, 2-4 years time), and K-pop crossing over to the US is never going to succeed.

As Simon Cowell from X Factor said to contestant Shaun Armenta a while back - "you're like a mouse trying to become an elephant."

  17. Re-debut, I find this somewhat interesting to look at, seeing that in the past, there's been some debate whether if 'Good Person' or 'Lies' was T-ara's official debut as a group, of which the former was when Jiae and Jiwon were in the group.

@nathaniel - if memory calls, didn't you post up a link a while back, mentioning that Eunjung once mentioned that 'Good Person' was T-ara's debut or something along those lines?

That being said, it's good to see them back as six members. It must be kept that way without any second thoughts - right up till they the day their end comes in the near future. If not, then damned if they do.

  18. "I have read at another account that K-netizens just remained silent."

Umm....I don't think you can expect K-netizens to attend a concert lol. Well, okay sure, there were probably some people in the audience who are K-netizens when fumbling with their computer, smartphone, tablet etc., but I don't think many would really bother to actually go and attend.

That being said, an all-kill is difficult to see happening. IU's doing well in the charts right now, along with Busker Busker - and I'm sure anyone who follows Korean entertainment news know that the latter is immensely popular in Korea, especially considering their successes last year. That being said, GG (or TaeTiSeo) is also believed to be having a comeback later this month. An all-kill is probably wishful thinking at best.

  19. Double the pain. Promoting one track is hard enough. Now two simultaneously?

T-ara's agency said, "T-ara were supposed to show a dance track for their comeback, but they wanted to show as many different images as possible. The title tracks they have chosen are appropriate songs for the autumn season."

Lol, since when did T-ara, yet alone any idol group under a major company have any really significantly impacting say in regards to how promotions should go?

  20. Depends how you put it really.

Their debut song Lies was just something I casually listened to when it was released. TTL was what made me a casual fan of the group. BPBP made me stay away from them.

'It Hurts' got me into the group again casually, but nothing serious. When Cry Cry first came out in 2011 however, then things jumped up a bit. Lovey Dovey drove it even further. Ultimately though, their music isn't what got me fully into them. Nor did the variety shows they featured in or dramas/movies certain members acted in.
